About this listen
The foundational and wildly popular go-to resource for influence and persuasion—a renowned international bestseller, with over 5 million copies sold—now revised, adding: new research, new insights, new examples, and online applications.
In the new edition of this highly acclaimed bestseller, Robert Cialdini—New York Times bestselling author of Pre-Suasion and the seminal expert in the fields of influence and persuasion—explains the psychology of why people say yes and how to apply these insights ethically in business and everyday settings. Using memorable stories and relatable examples, Cialdini makes this crucially important subject surprisingly easy. With Cialdini as a guide, you don't have to be a scientist to learn how to use this science.
You'll learn Cialdini's Universal Principles of Influence, including new research and new uses so you can become an even more skilled persuader—and just as importantly, you'll learn how to defend yourself against unethical influence attempts. You may think you know these principles, but without understanding their intricacies, you may be ceding their power to someone else.
Cialdini's Principles of Persuasion:
- Reciprocation
- Commitment and Consistency
- Social Proof
- Liking
- Authority
- Scarcity
- Unity, the newest principle for this edition
Understanding and applying the principles ethically is cost-free and deceptively easy. Backed by Dr. Cialdini's 35 years of evidence-based, peer-reviewed scientific research—including a three-year field study on what leads people to change—Influence is a comprehensive guide to using these principles to move others in your direction.

Information Everyone Needs.
This book is very informative on human behaviour that others can take advantage of if so inclined to do so.
But in saying that the book also shows people how to be aware of influence tactics being used by others.
All in all a great book to have in your library. Definitely worth more then one listen.
Do yourself a favour and get this.

Highest quality pop psychology
Rigorously researched by one of the best-respected psychologists in the field, but easy to absorb and entertaining. You don’t need an academic background to appreciate it, but it’s of high enough quality to be read alongside psychology textbooks.

Great methodology for developing influence or deflecting it
Love the content in this book. Very insightful coming from an expert in the area. But it is soooooo long. I think it could have been just as useful at half the length.

thank you Robert for a very insightful book. I greatly enjoyed it and the insights gleemed from it. now to go away and study it further and put it to more use.
I listened to this at 110% just to spped itup a little as the narration was in the slower side of normal and it is a long book.

Very useful
For mediators and expert witnesses, among others. The presentation is a bit slow but that can be overcome by playing it at a faster rate. Thank you Professor Chialdini.

Smashed through this book in 3 days.
This book flowed really well, didn't feel like a 20 hour drag. The structure and the use of references was really well done. Only downside was the recording sounded robotic at times.. It may have been my device.
