The clock is ticking…

Detective Constable Angus MacVicar has just landed his dream job – transferred out of uniform and assigned to Oldcastle’s biggest ongoing murder investigation: Operation Telegram, hunting the “Fortnight Killer”.

Every two weeks another couple is targeted. One victim is left at the scene, their corpse used as a twisted message board. The second body is never seen again.

This should be the perfect chance for Angus to prove himself, but instead of working on the investigation’s front line, he’s lumbered with the forensic psychologist from hell. A jetlagged, sarcastic, know-it-all American, on loan from the FBI, who seems determined to alienate everyone while dragging Angus into a shadowy world of conspiracies, lies, and violence.

It’s been twelve days since the Fortnight Killer last struck, and the investigation’s running out of time. The darkness is growing, and if Angus isn’t careful, it’ll swallow him whole…

Great New Book & Briiliant Narration

I loved this audiobook. I’m always desperate for Stuart MacBride books and I thoroughly enjoyed this one. Brilliant characters and so cleverly descriptive you can easily envisage it all. I disagree with some reviews which felt it was too long. It’s such a joy to listen to Angus King bring MacBride’s words to life that I just got lost in it and binge listened. Hopefully we will have more of this unlikely duo.

Good story but longer than it needs

I really enjoyed the storyline, the characters and Angus performed the hell out of it like always, but there is a lot of extraneous content that just doesn't need to be there, I think there was 5 mins plus of reading computer file names that seriously tested my patients lol but all in all I enjoyed it, just could have used some editing! I'll listen to other books of his because I got invested in the characters and that's the always the ticket.

Crime with Humour

Not sure it is as good as the Logan McRae series, but look forward to seeing how this one developes

Angus King reading Stuart McBride Amazing!!

This book had me hooked just reading the above, however the story also had me going from the first chapter. Gritty, funny and dark, McBride's storytelling was gripping and had me looking for breadcrumbs each time I pressed play. A masterpiece of mystery, whodunit, and crime fighting that only comes from this writers mind. This book, explores crime from all sides of the spectrum while pairing it with a story that leaves you always wanting to hear more. Characters lovable and as well of those to despise, have you entranced from start to finish. Would love another with these characters, as always. Highly recommended

Humour and suspense build up

A good listen maybe a smidgen long. Narrator excellent as usual. Nice to have a stand-alone story.
