About this listen

Croy Esca is a fixer at Torus Intercession, paid to guard, advocate for, and help those in need of the services his boss, Jared Colter, provides. Professionally, Croy goes in, gets the job done, and doesn't allow for anything that might resemble interest - which mirrors the way he handles his personal life as well.

When Croy is assigned to act as bodyguard to a billionaire during a long weekend trip to Las Vegas, he expects another in and out job made all the more tedious by the company he'll be keeping, and his loathing of Sin City. What he ends up with, however, is far more than he bargained for.

FBI Special Agent Dallas Bauer is good at what he does; some might even say he's consumed by his work, to the point of insomnia and at the cost to anything resembling a full life. Then Croy Esca comes crashing into his life, and it doesn't take long before he's struck by how desperate he is to make sure the fixer doesn't become the one that got away.

When Croy's assignment evolves into something so much more dangerous and complicated than he could have ever predicted, and his and Dallas's lives collide, the fixer finds himself in a fix. One Croy is not altogether sure he wants to escape.

An new assignment!

Interesting story of an assignment for an Agent for protection of a person but ended up being an FBI and DEA sting where they used Cory as an mediator between a wanna be Drug lord in Mexico but was actual a Rogue agent who was playing both sides. Excellent Narration by John Solo. So looking forward to reading or hearling the next story.

Hard to keep track of all the characters!

A disowned trust fund baby, Croy Esca has lived his life as an out-and-proud gay man and carved out a career in law-enforcement and security protection with Torus Intercession. He’s not a people person, seemingly standoffish and in his own head but he gets the job done. He’s sent undercover to Las Vegas to act as a personal bodyguard to a billionaire CEO but his cover is quickly blown by FBI Special Agent Dallas Bauer and the two find it hard to keep their hands off each other. When the CEO’s family are threatened by a Mexican drug cartel, Croy and Dallas join forces to bring down the cartel and uncover the compromised agents in the FBI and DEA.

Told from Croy’s POV, I liked his cynical, jaundiced tone—it was amusing. However, I had two big problems with this. Dallas went from tough guy to clingy, mushy instalover in seconds (the quick change made my head spin). The other problem was the HUGE number of characters: FBI & DEA agents, billionaire buddies, family members of Dallas, staff of Torus Intercession, cartel crooks, Croy’s estranged friends and family—the list seemed endless and I just couldn’t keep track of them all. 🎧 It’s always a pleasure to hear John Solo narrate and he did his usual excellent job on the audio.
