A moving account of war and friendships

Beautiful, horrific, poignant
I felt like I had to drink this book in. And it gave me a thirst to keep listening. So beautifully written. It frequently made me laugh and cry.

Passionate, gripping and moving
A heart warming and simultaneously moving and sad novel that perfectly balances suspense, passion and plot twists with a happy ending. I binged this story and the description of the historical sources from which some of the scenes are derived at the end made it all the more enjoyable.

Glorious
A great novel; devastating, exquisitely wrought, read and researched. It’s a love story of two posh gay soldiers set during WWI and it is sheer perfection. Bravo!

Love despite the atrocity of war
