Enjoying the Irish detective series

Another clever case thought we need to sit cat down and tell her to stop being a brat child! Lolol

yet another stereotyped character

while the story was interesting and well developed, like so many other books featuring a female detective, she ignores direct orders, 'I just have to', i have this 'feeling' , that is always right! At least her emotion-driven impulsivity does not, like in similar stories by other authors, put colleagues' lives at risk. This repeated personality flaw does a disservice to women.

Found this book enjoyable and easy to listen to, with good narration. Storyline fell into place. Characters all had there own personality.

Great Entertainment

Ready-made for a TV series, this story is atmospheric and well paced, and the main characters are both human enough to relate to and superhuman enough to cheer for. According to some reviews (which made me very annoyed), that sort of poetic licence is not everyone's cup of tea... for me personally, entertainment wins out over true crime every time. And Sam Blake has entertained me with Cat Connolly in these first two books, especially with the always brilliant narration by Aoife McMahon (how dare anyone say that woman is less than awesome!)! Onto book 3 now!

Enthralling and enjoyable

Having read the first in this series and thoroughly enjoyed it, I had high hopes for book 2 and it did not disappoint. Kept me guessing til the end.

predictable storyline

Aoife was fabulous as always.
The story line was unrealistic and the perpetrators were obvious from the beginning.
The main character was frustrating. she certainly didn't behave like the focussed champion she claimed to be. She refused to follow reasonable direction from her commanding officer, contaminating potential crime scenes, sharing evidence with some attactive guy and compromising the safety of several people. She runs head first into things without thinking them through first. There also seems to be some sort of sexual tension between her and her commanding officer, which is why she gets away with that crap. She should've been disciplined, demoted or fired with that many breaches of protocol.
I managed to get through to the end and there were a couple of bizarre twists. I'm so glad I purchased this book as a daily special rather than spending a credit on it.
