About this listen
Iceland: The Puffin Explorers Series (Book 1, 2, and 3)
Written in verse with a narrator to guide the characters around Iceland.
Árni is about to leave his burrow for a four-year adventure out at sea. But Árni doesn’t want to go, at least not today. You see, he wants one more day to play with his best friend Birta, but she can’t be found. Summertime in Iceland means nearly 24 hours of glistening sunlight each day - perfect for lighting the way for adventurous little puffins. While Árni searches Iceland for Birta, his mother and father are searching for him. Little pufflings shouldn’t be wandering about all alone!
When Árni finds Birta, their adventure together leads them exploring Iceland to search for two little lost lambs. Then they discover their predator the Artic Fox and other animals that are too exciting to ignore. They see a wild reindeer, meet Icelandic horses and sheep, and experience other natural wonders of Iceland. They explore the farmlands and how Iceland can grow their own fruit when the temperatures are so cold!
These two puffin friends, Árni and Birta are exploring Iceland, but it’s fledging time, fall is here, and they only have hours left before dark. Hot on their tails, Árni’s parents find the famous Blue Lagoon and a beach glistening with diamonds. They discover glaciers, waterfalls, volcanoes, natural energy, and some of the legendary folk of Iceland. Just before Árni and Birta set off on their long four-year sea journey, an Icelandic Faery plays clever tricks on them, making their grand adventure longer than expected! The extended darkness of September’s nightfall looms large on the horizon, and the pufflings must find their way home in a hurry.
