About this listen

A terrifying ghost story from the Queen of Icelandic crime, Yrsa Sigurdardottir, author of the Thora Gudmundsdottir novels.

The crunching noise had resumed, now accompanied by a disgusting, indefinable smell. It could best be described as a blend of kelp and rotten meat. The voice spoke again, now slightly louder and clearer: Don't go. Don't go yet. I'm not finished.

In an isolated village in the Icelandic Westfjords, three friends set to work renovating a derelict house. But soon they realise they are not alone there - something wants them to leave, and it's making its presence felt. Meanwhile, in a town across the fjord, a young doctor investigating the suicide of an elderly woman discovers that she was obsessed with his vanished son. When the two stories collide, the terrifying truth is uncovered....

Wonderful marvellous fabulous

I so enjoyed this book. Such a great story and so well narrated. I’m not normally into ghostish stories but I’m hooked now. Yrsa is. Fantastic writer and Lucy a terrific narrator. I love stories written in the snow.

LOVED this!

Such a great story and so creepy! Completely unpredictable and kept me wanting more. Narration was excellent and I could envision each character despite it being just one person telling the story!
Highly recommend this one!

10/10

I have been desperate for a good scary book and I remember you delivered. The way everything comes together at the end is mind blowing, the writer is incredibly talented to create such an amazing story. Lucy who narrated the book has the perfect voice, keeps you engaged from start to finish. I’m so glad Yrsa has more books narrated by Lucy… I’m excited to start the next book!
