It was their shared empathy for homeless dogs that sparked an unlikely friendship. In 2014, Shantanu Naidu, an automobile design engineer in his early 20s, developed an innovation to save the local strays from being run over by speeding cars. Ratan Tata, himself known for his compassion for stray dogs, took note. Impressed, he not only decided to invest in the venture, but over the years became a mentor, boss, and an unexpectedly dear friend to Shantanu.
I Came Upon a Lighthouse is an honest, light-hearted telling of this uncommon bond between a millennial and an octogenarian that gives glimpses of a beloved Indian icon in a warm light.

Lovely read for people of all ages
The earnestness with which this story was told is something that will resonate with everyone. It gives a great insight into the life of the great man that Ratan Tata was. They don’t make them like him anymore. And of course lots of love to the author for sharing his story and experiences with the world.

A heart touching sweet relationship!
The more I envied Shantanu the more I understood why he deserved this beautiful relationship with one of the most admired man of our times. Shantanu's view of life, authenticity, brilliance and genuine love was touching and inspiring.
