About this listen

Left with few choices after the murder of her father, a young assassin teams up with a brutal alien race to expose an 8,000-year-old plan to destroy Earth.

Nothing about Junco’s world is what it seems. She has been trained to kill from the day she was born and her life has been nothing but a long string of secret missions interspersed with long bouts of insanity and insubordination.

But now that her father is dead every military faction wants a piece of her. Especially the ruthless alien soldier, Tier, and his team of murderous brothers.

With no one left to trust she turns to the aliens, and their ancient overlord, Lucan, to learn the secrets of her origins. But this sanctuary comes at a hefty price and she will have to participate in a series of death battles to prove her worth and go on the most demanding and deadliest missions of her life.

But that’s not so bad, right?

After all, killing is what she does best.

rabbit hole extrodinaire, J A Huss through and through. lots of twists and revelations with important information to

I have to say that I feel one has to know j a huss's writing style in order to perservere with the length of these books ( or this series).
J A only reveals twists and turns in 'real time' so to speak.
A lot of perspectives are given by all vital characters and it all ties in to how reactions drive the plotline. Not to mention it kept me guessing and listening as to how it all plays out.
Like I mentioned earlier, it was a long listen to this total series and with each book the plot just thickens. There is very little reprieve and J A just pushes you further down the rabbit hole.
I found it's not a story one can listen to with only half an ear as it's very easy to miss important revelations that explains how the plotline plays out.
There was little romance and scant steam but the space aliens, the action and suspense, mixing in with mystery and angst, was enough to keep listening past a chapter or 2 they seemed to drag happenings to a minimum.
Junco was an intense, complicated heroine and I was amazed at how
J A managed to put her thoughts and actions on paper.
There were times I so wanted to smack or shake her.
By the end of the series I just knew things were going to work out. Although J A is always a suprise.
If you enjoy this author then dive in.
It's a space opera and I started listening to 'sick heart " which is dark and gritty but shorter in length and I got an understanding of a J A's unique writing style so I listened to junco with my mind open and welcomed the rabbit hole

Books 1-3

Not my usual read but I loved every minute. I am a fan of J A Huss which led me to this story and I wasn’t disappointed! Great story and I am looking forward to the next in series. Kristen Sieh is an incredible narrator. Her character voices were spot on and I could always tell which character was speaking. This was one one of the first audiobooks that I have listened to, where I didn’t have to rewind to figure out who was speaking. Will definitely be seeking out more books performed by Kristen! An overall great listen.

Hard work

I found it very difficult to cope with the narrator. The attempt at different characters was a failure. The males all sounded like prepubescent boys. Just reading it straight would have been preferable.
The story is very disjointed and tough to follow, it just doesn't flow well and the characters are shallow.
Not my thing at all.....

Quite frustrating for me

Not my cup of tea. Too many plot holes with a main character that’s too naive and weak to be a highly trained assassin. More a young adult romance novel. I guess I didn’t read the description properly before downloading.
