About this listen
From the international number one best-selling author of the DCI Ryan mysteries.
Hysteria is the second instalment in Ross' brand-new Dr Alex Gregory series, narrated by actor Hugh Dancy.
Recently returned from his last case in Ireland, elite forensic psychologist and criminal profiler Dr Alexander Gregory receives a call from the French police that he can’t ignore. It’s Paris fashion week, and some of the world’s most beautiful women are turning up dead, their faces slashed in a series of frenzied attacks while the world’s press looks on.
Amidst the carnage, one victim has survived, but she’s too traumatised to talk. Without her help, the police are powerless to stop the killer before he strikes again - can Gregory unlock the secrets of her mind before it’s too late? Murder and mystery are peppered with dark humour in this fast-paced thriller set in a spectacular Parisian landscape.

Interesting but predictable
I did enjoy this book but it was a bit predictable and obvious in areas of the main plot

Hysteria
This was ok sort of strange about double personalities. I’m not sure I would suggest anyone read it but ........

Deadly dull.
This book was a huge disappointment after Impostor. I had to listen to it twice as I kept falling asleep, so uninteresting were the characters. The unfamiliar sounding French names didn't help either; I couldn't remember who was who. It may have become more exciting toward the end but I couldn't hang on that long.

Fantastic
I love LJ Ross's writing style and believable characters and this book does not disappoint and I am growing very fond of the damaged Dr Alexander Gregory!

Fascinating
An excellent psychological mystery. The mental health issue was probably resolved far sooner than it would be in real life, but the story was very well done.

Excellent narration
Basic storytelling with shallow characters saved by enthusiastic narration. Hugh Dancy’s articulation and voices are impressive.

Unusual
Slightly unbelievable but I enjoyed it and was able to follow the characters and story line something I find difficult and annoying in some intricate psychological thrillers I’ll look for more By same Author

Dr Alexander Gregory - Hysteria
I really enjoyed this book, as I do with all LJ Ross’s work. I’m working my way through this series one after the other and find Alex Gregory such a different character. The way his early childhood trauma has affected him, helping to make him the brilliant clinical psychologist and criminal profiler that he is, is unique and truly remarkable.
I’d highly recommend this series wholeheartedly.

Disappointing 2nd book 😒
Immediately thrust into French names and the pronunciations of those, had to relisten and write names down because of the awful "French" accent...went from French to American with a dash of English at times...sorry but the narrator just fluctuated with all this 😖I seriously didn't see the point other than of course it was Paris Fashion Week...could've been New York and it would have been better understood! Also the little phrases and comments in French that were made with NO explanation of what they were saying is patronising to the listeners in my opinion. I did think the story was a bit far fetched when it was revealed what happened to the first victim, but the twist at the end was unexpected so that was something! I honestly only kept listening to see if there was any character development of Alex. I will still listen to the next book because thank goodness I'll actually be able to understand it and not have to guess what people are saying to each other 🤔🙃🙄
