About this listen
Deputy Mattie Cobb is in a dark place and has withdrawn from Cole Walker and his family to work on issues from her past. When she and her K-9 partner, Robo, get called to track a missing junior high student, they find the girl dead on Smoker's Hill behind the high school, and Mattie must head to the Walker home to break the bad news. But that's only the start of trouble in Timber Creek because soon another girl goes missing - and this time it's one of Cole's daughters.
Knowing that each hour a child remains missing lessens the probability of finding her alive, Mattie and Robo lead the hunt while Cole and community volunteers join in to search everywhere, but to no avail. It seems that someone has snatched all trace of the Walker girl from their midst, including her scent. Grasping at straws, Mattie and Robo follow a phoned-in tip into the dense forest, where they hope to find a trace of the girl's scent and to rescue her alive. But when Robo does catch her scent, it leads them to information that challenges everything they thought they knew about the case.
Mattie and Robo must rush to hunt down the kidnapper before they're too late in Hunting Hour, the third installment in critically acclaimed author Margaret Mizushima's exhilarating mystery series.

Feelgood heart-warming crime thriller
Pity about the narration, very narrow range of voices, especially the male ones.
But the storyline of deputy sheriff and her tracking dog finding the kidnapped daughter of the vet is captivating light listening.
Nothing too deep and meaningful, but a deft touch of an engrossing plot, vivid setting and a so far small cast of core characters that one is happy to invest in.

Never failed to please……..
Love this series and this one deserves all the five stars. Romance still warming up, and Robo is going to have trust his mistress and her human needs. Narration just great and consistent with all these stories.

Good with a large side order of saccharine sap
It's fairly well written but it's pretty melodramatic - and the schmaltz gets liberally slathered on
And there are some absurd inconsistencies in the story
They could've caught the killer with a few simple actions - but not one of the 'seasoned professionals' thought of any of them
Kinda lame really

Spoiled by the narrator
I struggled with this book, the narrator’s voice was annoying and the change for characters was so awful it was funny. The story itself was good but I couldn’t warm to the main character.

Series is improving
The characters are starting to develop and the plot in this 3rd book of the series was a little more suspenseful than previous. It’s an easy listen and I’m sticking with it. The narrator is also improving as she was a bit wooden and one dimensional in the last 2 books.
