About this listen
Jesse Sampson and her two younger sisters have lived a hard life on the streets of Seattle, Washington, for the past several years. Four years before, the Earth received its first visitors from space, causing mass fear. Alone in a world gone mad with just her sisters, Jesse has learned to use the darkness and the remains of the city to survive and keep what was left of her family alive. She has seen the savage side of human nature and finds they are not much different from the aliens who conquered the Earth.
The Trivators have taken control of the Earth to prevent the humans from destroying it in their fear. A world of warriors, they are sent out by the Alliance of Star Systems to seek out new worlds. Their mission is first contact. They are to establish communication with the leaders of the new worlds they find and bring them into the Alliance. Any resistance is to be quickly subdued to prevent unnecessary death of the inhabitants of the new worlds they find. Their payment comes from the success of their mission.
Hunter is what he is called. A hunter, one of the elite clans of the Trivators who seek out those who resist. His abilities to track, capture, and eliminate those who try to harm any warrior are renowned. He finds the tables turned when he becomes the one captured by a group of ruthless humans.
Hunter is shocked when a strange human female risks her life to help him escape only to disappear into the ruins of the city. He now has a new mission, finding the female who saved his life. He is determined to find her before she is damaged by others of her kind.
What he finds is a reward beyond comprehension to a Trivator warrior: a family. Can he convince Jesse that he can give her and her younger sisters a better life on his world? Or will fear keep her from accepting what he has to offer?

Great start to a good series
This book needs to be read with the rest of the series to be well understood; easily binged, this is not hard to do, and the next couple of books fill in gaps one didn't know were there. The female lead is compelling, as is the male. I really enjoyed this book.

started out good but them got repetitive
i fell in love with the Valdier series that s. e. Smith write. However, from the middle this book was starting to get repetitive and i was throughly bored by the end.

Her mighty triaviator
Hunter's claim is one of my favourite of the alliance series, ok who am i kidding i love them all :P i love this story that explores what would happened if our world will make first contact and how unprepared humans are and that yes we will self destruct because of our fears and prejudices, it's kinda sad because it is happening now and no aliens yet. David Brenin as always is so amazingly sexy in his narrative. I love u man xx

5 plus stars
This is a reread, or should I say, re-listen lol. And it is just as good as the first time. This has to be one of the best alien warrior series I have come across so far. It is full of action, suspense, and big alpha male alien warriors. Each book is a continuation of the story, but each story has its own HEA. As happened the first time, this one brought me to a tear or two again 😂 It really is an emotional but fantastic start the The Alliance series by SE Smith. It’s been quite awhile since I finished all the books in the series, my only hope is the author brings us more of these trivator warriors.

Loved listening to this.
AUDIBLE REVIEW
Loved listening to this but I still found Jessie a bit of an independent idiot in the beginning. I can understand part of her thinking but I would have made sure I was stronger and well fed before running from the compound.
Loved going to a new alien world.
Having read the whole series a few times doesn’t take away from listening to the audible version.
BOOK REVIEW
The start of another new series by one of my favourite authors.
This time we find earth has been invaded by the Trivators, not so much invaded but being bought into the Alliance. Humans being human, fight each other and destroy their own cities for self-aggrandising reasons rather than banding together for the betterment of earth. Self destruction rather than become something more.
What the three sisters Jesse, Jordan and Taylor have had to endure is horrible but they have survived and grown stronger with a bond that will never be broken.
Jesse was a strong and independent person doing her best to protect her younger sisters but she should have been out of the city ages before this time frame. She may have been reckless, but I did not find her stupid.
Hunter is exactly that, an elite hunter, amongst the Trivators and is ready to leave this horrible planet and head home after 3 years of duty. When Jesse saves his life he owes her a life debt and takes her as his Amate, (life partner) so she and her sisters can get medical help.
The girls take off and of course nearly get raped and killed but are once again saved by Hunter and his men.
We have a few hiccups with their relationship but Jesse being the strong person she is ends up being a perfect balance and a good partner to Hunter. Once she finally accepts her new life on a different planet and her head wrapped around a new universe, she adapts well.
I am not sure but I felt Jesse and her sisters should have been just that bit older to give them some credibility. The constant wishing for things to be as they were was a bit wearing, even if understandable. The earth had changed and not for the better so I would be thankful for the chance to leave that behind.
Not quite hooked but looking forward to the next book.

mills and boon in space
The write up makes it sound like a sci-fi/dystopian but that's a secondary trait. This book would only suit someone who likes cheap romance novels.
