About this listen
When Elizabeth Hotchkiss stumbles upon a copy of How to Marry a Marquis in her employer's library, she's convinced someone is playing a cruel joke. A guidebook to seduction might be just the thing she needs - and what harm could there be in taking a little peek?
Intrigued by the alluring young woman with the curious little rule book, James Sidwell, Marquis of Riverdale, decides that there is only one rule worth following - that Elizabeth marry her marquis.

If you love the Bridgerton series you'll love this
Another great love story from Julia Quinn. I really enjoyed this story & Rosalyn Landor is fantastic at narrating these books

A must read!
I had binged on well over a dozen Julia Quinn (audio) books before finally deciding to give this one a go. To my pleasant surprise I loved this cute & clever little story so much that it is my favourite thus far.
The main protagonists.all shine (Lady Danbury, Elizabeth and James). One is never at a loss for exchanges of witty banter. The plot develops and unfolds nicely, and the dialogue of other characters are also on point.
There is less descriptive repetition, laboured dialogue or fluff and I don't believe the word 'benediction" is ever uttered once (thank goodness!). There is a cat in this story, but he too shines.
The sensual parts of the story are less lengthy and graphic than what you'd find in the Bridgerton and Rokesby series, but they do have their place in this story that you won't be disappointed either way whether it's your thing or not.
There is a situation where Elizabeth does carry on like a pork chop, and I found myself impatiently wanting her to pipe down and get over it however there'd probably be no more story if she did, and truth be told, she was well within her right to feel indignant and infuriated so it was a necessary part of the story progression. To her credit, the Narrator (Rosalyn Landor) did an exceptional job executing Elizabeth's blind anger and bringing each character to life.
Do give this story a chance. I found it very satisfying and highly recommend it.

One of the better stories from JQ
Interesting characters specially Elizabeth. Engaging story and amazing narration. I enjoyed this one more than I expected. A nice surprise, since normally I don’t find JQ’s other novels as strong as the Bridgerton series or even the Rokesby or Smythe-Smith.

Barbara Cartland copy only worse
Has possibilities as an historical romance but fails miserably. Didn’t even bother to listen to the end. Unrealistic. If the author had followed the basic bones of a good storyline, it could have gone somewhere, but the “Gentlemy“In the story doesn’t play the part of the gentleman. In short, a load of old cobblers.
