About this listen
Finn
When the vampire stalking me sent me a letter, I was prepared for my new life with the man I love to get thrown into chaos. But as the days stretch on and nothing happens, I become determined not to allow that monster to rule my life and decide that Marcus and I will move on.
We can’t always allow the past to haunt us. If that includes pestering Marcus and harassing my fellow detectives, they’d better learn to love it because I’m not going anywhere, even if they like to remind me I’m the only human working in a department filled with vampires.
But Marcus loves me for who I am, even if he’s not crazy about the cute pet names I call him like McBitey. Being with him is more than I could have dreamed, and even with the trials thrown in our way, he never fails to make me smile.
Marcus
When Finn joined the VRC, I never expected how everything would change. Now that he’s the brightest part of my days, I’m unsure of how I existed without him. Before Finn and I can settle into our new life together, we’re called in as lead detectives when a body is found in the river, and the case soon hits closer to home than we anticipated.
I want to be by Finn’s side to keep him safe, but at the same time, Finn’s fighting for the freedom he’s always wanted after being forced to live a life of fear. What I do know is that my future is with Finn, no matter what happens.
How to Elude a Vampire is the second in the VRC series and contains a display of manly prowess that doesn't go as desired, reluctant bonding with a new pet, interfering with a snarky Russian's love life, misuse of office supplies, a vampire with a killer fashion sense but very little game, a total lack of ancient kung fu powers, a feisty human who almost always gets his way, and the possessive vampire who adores him.

Finn faces his fears
Finn finally comes face to face (well mask) with his attacker and the VRC rally together to keep him safe. We get to meet Marcus’ brother Claude in this book, the bright sunny fashionable opposite to his brother who takes a shine to Alexei when he comes to provide assistance on who may be Finn’s attacker.
Lots of laughs & sass as you expect from an Alice Winters book although perhaps a little more than expected at some of the more serious moments.

love this narrator
How to Elude a Vampire is the continuation of the story from the first book in this series (definitely read in order). There is a lot of suspense, action and murder but the author balances that out really well by having humorous characters that have a lot of fun banter and snark between them.
Finn is my fav character - I love how hilarious he is, he adds so much humour to so many scenes. He's such a stirrer with Marcus as well, especially once he realises something makes Marcus uncomfortable, like Marcus trying to interact with Hela :) Finn is everything Marcus never knew he needed in his life!
The continuation of the stalker storyline was really well done. I didn't guess who it was until the big reveal. I'll be interested to see where the storyline goes from here in the next book in the series.
Michael Ferraiuolo is a wonderful narrator, I really enjoy listening to his performances.

A wonderful story and narration!
Michael Ferraiuolo has once again done a marvelous job of bring Alice Winter's zany cast of characters to life. This book is a little more serious than the first in the series (How to Vex a Vampire) in that it is dealing with Finn's long term, psychopathic, sadistic, vampire stalker.
That doesn't mean the humour doesn't shine through, and the narrator Michael, is able to smoothly flow from emotionally intense scenes to flippant snarky moments, showing his wide scope and epic comedic timing.
Michael Ferraiuolo has the ability to give each character an extremely unique voice, so you know instantly who is speaking, even if it isn't identified within the story. He is definitely in my list of Top 5 narrators!
Alice Winters has done a spectacular job with this book. Finn's stalker was introduced in How to Vex a Vampire, and he made a few appearances then, which only highlighted his obession with Finn and indicated that he is an extremely powerful, and mad, vampire.
Things ramp up in How to Elude a Vampire, and the hunt is on for this mysterious stalker who, right up until the end, I had NO CLUE who it was!!! There were a couple of red herrings, a couple of times I though 'no, not him' but luckily I was wrong, and the ultimate big bad was a surprise, where in hindsight you go 'oh I can see it now' but in the moment, I never saw it coming!
How to Elude a Vampire is also emotionally intense and romantic. Marcus may have take a little while to admit he'd fallen for Finn's charms (or was it just his persistence), but he's all in now and the fact that Finn is threatened, and that he doesn't know if he is strong enough to protect him, is driving him crazy. He is fighting his instincts to put him in the secret him away and allow him to continue to live, something Finn is desperately fighting to do.
Finn's family, Marcus and his brother, and his fellow VRC vampires rally to protect Finn and find his stalker, even Alexis who claims to 'hate' Finn, goes out of his way to protect him. He is definitely a big Russian faker!!
I'd highly recommend both the book and the narration, separately or together, they are amazing!
