About this listen

Her brother's letters reveal everything - if only he'd written one to her.

Alice always thought she'd see her brother again. Rob ran away when he was 15, with so many years left to find his way home. But his funeral happened first. Now that she has to clear out her childhood home in Georgia, the memories come flooding in, bringing with them an autopsy report showing her family's lies - and sealed, addressed letters from Rob.

In a search for answers to questions she's always been afraid to ask, Alice delivers the letters. Each dares her to open her eyes to her family's dark past - and her own role in it. But it's the last letter, addressed to her brother's final home in New Orleans, that will force her to choose if she'll let the secrets break her or finally bring her home.

What a Heartbreaking Homage To A Much Loved Brother

Right at the start of this story , Rob chooses to end his life on his terms before succumbing to terminal illness.

What plays out through the rest of this story is his sister discovery about his life.

While her mother is in care dealing with dementia, and her father is dead.

It is left to her and her adopted Uncle, Jaime, to wrap up the family belongings before their old home is demolished.

In there, eight years after burying her older brother , musician, Rob, that Alison discovers his guitar and a box full of letters from him addressed to a bunch of people that were never delivered

Sadly she is disappointed to find that there isn’t one for her.

But it’s these letters and delivering them that is the engine of this story, along with the demolition of the family home that holds all their secrets.

As Al, delves deeper into her brothers life after he ran away from home at fifteen presumably, never to be found.

Al, begins to piece together what kind of life he lived , and why he fled the family home.

It’s heartbreaking.

And.

Confronting

The unraveling of her brothers life also forces Al, to face the facts about her own.

In particular, her marriage and her husbands “secret “ affair .
