Publisher's Summary

Sarah J. Maas's CRESCENT CITY series begins with House of Earth and Blood: the story of half-Fae and half-human Bryce Quinlan as she seeks revenge in a contemporary fantasy world of magic, danger, and searing romance.

Bryce Quinlan had the perfect life-working hard all day and partying all night-until a demon murdered her closest friends, leaving her bereft, wounded, and alone. When the accused is behind bars but the crimes start up again, Bryce finds herself at the heart of the investigation. She'll do whatever it takes to avenge their deaths.

Hunt Athalar is a notorious Fallen angel, now enslaved to the Archangels he once attempted to overthrow. His brutal skills and incredible strength have been set to one purpose-to assassinate his boss's enemies, no questions asked. But with a demon wreaking havoc in the city, he's offered an irresistible deal: help Bryce find the murderer, and his freedom will be within reach.

As Bryce and Hunt dig deep into Crescent City's underbelly, they discover a dark power that threatens everything and everyone they hold dear, and they find, in each other, a blazing passion-one that could set them both free, if they'd only let it.

With unforgettable characters, sizzling romance, and captivating suspense, this richly inventive new dramatized audiobook fantasy series by #1 New York Times bestselling author Sarah J. Maas delves into the heartache of loss, the price of freedom-and the power of love.

Incredible

Amazing GA, loved every second. So much more epic than the books! A must listen. The cast did a fabulous job of capturing the essence and spirit of the story.

Loved it!

Very engaging and great way to get through the more world heavy aspects at the start of the book. Shame it’s a long wait between graphic audio books in the series - will have to purchase the straight narration version for the next books as I can’t wait!

What in the elevator music?

Did I enjoy the story? Yes. Did I enjoy the music in some parts? Yes. But why was it necessary to put music over parts that it wasn't needed. Also why when you have a male narrator available was the female voice doing it. I thought that was the whole point of a dramaticised version, that it was basically a play where the individual characters spoke their parts. I won't be getting a dramaticised version again after this.

Underrated

Overall acting, sound FX and cast were phenomenal.
I think SJM followers are used to something more traditional (fantasy world wise) and fast paced. It's not like her usual style and, I actually prefer it (so far). But yes if you're expecting the same thing you'll be disappointed.

I read a lot of reviews so watched this expecting the worst but I love that there is so many different fantasy creatures in the book and that character development wasn't rushed. I felt immersed in the world and like I know the characters.

I also find these two the best main romantic couple out of all SJMs stories. I preferred Rowan and Aelin on their own and, F+R were alright but...a lot of it didnt mesh well for me.

These two are slow burns that actually take time and it makes sense how it develops. They kind of compliment each other and it evolves naturally. The main FMC and MMC isn't actually my favourite SJM leads but as a couple -chefs kiss. So far I thinks it's worth it and excited that I get to be immersed through this for hours of entertainment. Hoping the second half is even better!

Bonus- so far I haven't had to deal with any talk of "mates" which is refreshing 😂

Worth the build up

There is a lot of world building, once you get towards the end it will be worth the grind. Fantastic voice actors and such an amazing book to listen to, it’ll have you pausing what your doing to pay attention. Loved it.

A wonderful performance

A little slow off the start but moves on at a decent pace. Alot of the smuttiness is abrupt and jarring and really doesn't add to the story. Give acting & additional sound effects were a nice touch and kept me engaged. Also made the story easier to follow during longer dialog.

Good story

The background noise is so bad that I almost cancelled the book. Bryce’s voice is so annoying, The males were so weak, no strength, no expression. The story saved the day, for me anyway.
