About this listen

Half-Fae, half-human Bryce Quinlan loves her life. Every night is a party and Bryce is going to savour all the pleasures Lunathion - also known as Crescent City - has to offer. But then a brutal murder shakes the very foundations of the city, and brings Bryce's world crashing down.

Two years later, Bryce still haunts the city's most notorious nightclubs - but seeking only oblivion now. Then the murderer attacks again. And when an infamous Fallen angel, Hunt Athalar, is assigned to watch her every footstep, Bryce knows she can't forget any longer.

As Bryce and Hunt fight to unravel the mystery, and their own dark pasts, the threads they tug ripple through the underbelly of the city, across warring continents and down to the deepest levels of Hel, where things that have been sleeping for millennia are beginning to stir....

With unforgettable characters and suspense, this richly inventive new fantasy series by No.1 New York Times best-selling author Sarah J. Maas delves into the heartache of loss, the price of freedom - and the power of love.

Wow just wow

I won’t lie, in my typical fashion I read reviews before devoting almost 30 hours of my life to this audiobook but boy oh boy am I glad I did. For starters, don’t listen to the reviews that say this book is too long and cumbersome or it doesn’t draw you in until half way through because that can’t possibly be true.
I loved every minute of this book and I relished in the fact that it was so long. It meant I got to really throw myself into it. None of it was boring. All of it was great.
Many reviewers have said that this book is great but not Sarah J Mass’s best work but for me, out of all her series, this was by far my favourite. Even more the ACOTR.
I’m kicking myself that I hesitated for so long to take the plunge and grab this book. Now I’m kicking myself that a) it’s over and b) I have to wait for what will feel like forever for book 2 to be released but you best believe as soon as it’s up for preorder that baby will be going straight into my audible shopping cart.

Honestly this book is wonderful. The magical world built into the human world we know was both familiar and foreign. The world building and hierarchy of the worlds inhabitants was enthralling. But the relationships between the characters is where this book really shines. From brother and sister, mother and daughter, father and daughter, best friend and soulmate, romantic relationships, life and death, friend and foe...this book has explores all of these relationships in such a heartbreaking, emotional and realistic way. I just loved it all.

This book made me feel and feel deep. I laughed and I cried actual tears. I was cheering them on and shared their losses, pain and deceptions.

Honestly I can’t say enough good things about this book. It captured me from the start and I will be nursing my post book hangover for some time. I have a feeling that the books I read next will have some big shoes to fill.

LOVED this book!!!

I can't believe how much I LOVED this book!! I was a little turned off my the mention of angles, devils, werewolves, vampires and so on because I dont normally listen to books with those themes because they tend to be aimed at teens but this was written extremely well and is definitely aimed for adult readers. I cannot wait for the next book!!!!

Absolutely amazing

One of her best by far. I laughed and cried and loved all of these characters right to the end.
The twists and turns had me hoping and denying and guessing right to the end.
With such skill as immersing us into her worlds, I can’t wait to see what Sarah J Maas gives us next.

Earth and Blood

I would like to say, Sarah Maas. You certainly can write a book, the book was so good, you had me laughing and crying it was very enjoyable to listen too. And the Narrator E Evans, wow she was good, all the different voices she does, was excellent. Thankyou
I’m now ready to do the next chapter of the series. It’s a good read/ or audio, but you will need a big coffee/tea to have with it. Enjoy. K.E

one of my all time faves

if you push through the world building, I promise it's worth it. My second read through was incredible once I knew the characters and wasn't so overloaded

Thesauruses are handy.

I dare Sarah to write "gods-damned preternatural throats bobbed"
Though I probably don't need to.

So Good I Binge Listened To It.

I out off reading/listening to and Sarah J Maas books for so long due to seeing a lot of negative reviews and didn't wanna have to commit to a whole series once started. But I had to use up an Audible credit, so thought to try it out. if I didn't like it, at least I could return it.

I honestly enjoyed this story so much I binge listened to most of it in a single day, then listened to it a second time almost instantly over a week.

The only annoyance at this story was the fact that the MC had lost her phone twice, yet somehow still had access to all her contacts and old voicemails and text messages.
How does that even work? It wasn't explained and seemed inconsistent.

Otherwise really enjoyed it. Looking forward to listening to the 2nd book.
