About this listen

THE NEW UP-ALL-NIGHT THRILLER FROM THE SUNDAY TIMES BESTSELLER CARA HUNTER
Midnight.
A call out to an isolated farm on the outskirts of Oxford.
A body shot at point-blank range in the kitchen.
It looks like a burglary gone wrong, but DC Adam Fawley suspects there's something more to it.
When the police discover a connection to a high-profile case from years ago, involving a child's murder and an alleged miscarriage of justice, the press go wild.
Suddenly Fawley's team are under more scrutiny than ever before. And when you dig up the past, you're sure to find a few skeletons...

Good story, Well Read.
Well Read. When you 'Read' a police crime novel as an audio book, there are multiple characters, male and female. Having a single reader doesn't cut it for me. With each piece of speech, one can't go back and check who this is like a book in hand. The readers here do a great job.
The story is unusual which is good. It unwinds with a good balance of success and frustrations. Balanced too is the time given to plot and characterisations.
The only reason I've marked it down a tiny bit is, and this is a 'me' thing, is the mode this author uses of switching about in quick succession. I guess it is meant to keep up the suspense. For a non-visual person like me, it just drives me nuts. Give me solid chapters every time.

Good story BUT not original
The main storyline sounded familiar; an unusual story and not an everyday occurrence...it is based on an actual crime in Australia where I live! Of course it is fleshed out and not an exact "copy", and I won't give any spoilers. Very well known! So in my opinion not an "original" story 🤨 it was well done though 👍
