About this listen
He wants revenge, but he wants her more.
Once upon a time, there was a little boy.
His belly full of laughter, his life full of joy.
Until one day, something changed; stripped his innocence away.
The hole inside making space for the devil to come and play.
His dreams gone forever, he grew up way too fast.
An endless night of crocodiles, and watches made of glass.
He grew into a villain, the taste of vengeance on his tongue.
Craving to make his enemies pay for the misdeeds they had done.
Instead he found a darling girl, and refused to let her go.
For what better way to make the man pay, than to steal his little shadow.
Hooked is a full-length, complete standalone in the Never After series: a collection of dark romances where the villain gets the girl. It is not a literal retelling. It is a dark, contemporary romance (not a fantasy) featuring mature themes and content that may not be suitable for all audiences. Listener discretion is advised.

Hooked in the best way
I was a bit dubious to leap into this book due to the mixed reviews, however I thoroughly enjoyed it and recommend you give it a go. The narration was perfect and the story is well written. The Peter Pan references were clever too. I'm looking forward to book 2.

Fun Listen
I can’t help but roll my eyes at the bad reviews on this, it only shows that people don’t bother to research what they are reading before they read it. This is a dark romance story, this is not enemies to lovers, the villain is no Rhysand or Cardan, he is every bit the villain the book promises. I encourage people to understand the trigger warnings before reading this as this is not for the faint-hearted. I devoured this over the weekend and I enjoyed the story up until the end. The villain becoming soft makes for a boring ending for what was meant to be a dark book. But overall the story was entertaining and so I gave it 3 stars. I really liked the performances and found both readers did an excellent job of sucking me into the world, I’m not sure I would have enjoyed this book as much without them.

A Gripping Tale
Fantastic combination of spice and plot, drama and tension and character development. I couldn’t stop listening, the story really drew me in. The twist on Peter Pan was fantastic, and I loved recalling all the characters from the original story when they popped up throughout. Tina Bell was particularly inspired!
There were a couple of occasions where the narrators accents slipped slightly, which drew me out of the story just a bit. Otherwise excellent narration, particularly by Felicity - her ability to emote was exceptional!

Interesting Peter Pan retelling
A few things annoyed me about this audio book Hooked. Main one being a small thing but still bizarre enough to mention. The chapter readings alternating between the MMC and MFC were incorrect. Reading it a chapter behind what it was actually correlating to on audible. That aside I did also struggle to get over the voice of the chosen narrators. It didn’t feel ideal to me at the beginning but eventually I did adapt as I become more engrossed in the story. This dark romance retelling of Peter Pan is certainly not light in contrast it’s fairly violent and excellently descriptive with grace of walking a fine line for someone new to the genre and not going to far over the edge with them haha. I really enjoyed the Easter eggs littered throughout Hooked referencing places, location and names from the original story and also being new to dark romance genre myself found this a good recommendation and starting point to suggest to others whom may want to explore this genre. It’s well written with a good “Hook” to the plot and engrossed me enough to continue to the end to find out what happens with the romantic resolution as well as the story twist and turns also! A well rounded book I believe with good spice throughout. The ending does wrap up fairly fast and feels alittle quick to close the chapter but I was okay with that, I felt that I got the closure I need on my thoughts and theory’s I had been waiting to confirm or disprove and was content in its ending. I would recommend Hooked by Emily Mclntire to any new dark romance reader and to anyone whom enjoys a morally gray character and a story where no “good guy” wins. Bar maybe John who I liked the most being the most moral of the bunch bahahaha though also barely in the book.

hooked with a twist
Dark, twisted, powerful.
who doesn't love a twisted romance.
plot twist was good, character building was good, couple parts in the story that didn't really need to be in there but i understand the build up jealousy phase to make it all worth it!

Interesting.
I hate that I predicted the plot twists chapters before they happened. But that's my suspicious mind doing its thing. I found myself actually enjoying this.

Good story…but the voices
Why when you have a male and female voice to do each part, would you make the male do his own female dialogue and the female do her male dialogue. Her Hook voice is disturbing and his Wendy voice is so weird.
