About this listen

Infinite power at your fingertips and a target on your back.

Anya Nowicki, along with thousands of people around the globe, has found herself a host for alien technology known as the Archive.

The Archive allows its hosts to alter their minds and bodies in an instant through holographic menu systems. With the touch of a button, anyone can become super strong, gain magical abilities, purchase a giant robot, or become a master in an almost infinite number of skills ranging from advanced combat techniques to fidget-spinning.

However, Anya has also become the target for nightmarish, shape-shifting creatures that have come to Earth following the newfound extraterrestrial tech. The Archive can grant their hosts great power, but it may not be enough to survive the horde of murderous aliens hunting them down.

Homicidal Aliens Are Invading and All I Got Is This Stat Menu contains strong language and graphic violence.

A great beginning

A stellar audiobook, great voices, effects and pacing by the narrator really brought this story to life.

The story itself sets us up for an exciting book 2 and for those that enjoy litrpgs it really nails the variety of skills and abilities without being overwhelming. Add to that a great cast of secondary characters and you have a winner in the genre.

Excellent book

Excellent work here.

The 1 star "feminist bull" review from MR WISHART over there tells us a lot more about him that it does about the book.

There are plenty of powerful male characters, don't worry.

There are also plenty of powerful female characters, including our protagonist.

It was great. It was light, it was dark (not grimdark, it just had serious underpinnings and moments).

The narration was one of those that felt like it embodied the character well, in a seamless way. I wasn't hearing a performance, I was just there.

Anya is a badass, who grows and matures throughout the book.

Decent GameLit. Silly Aliens

This is a really strong story - great characters, great writing, well-rounded MC. Unfortunately, I wasn't a fan of the aliens, and it means I won't be picking up the rest of the story.

Minor spoilers ahead.

The aliens are mimics who take the form of everyday appliances. It's a little distracting to really get worked up for a fight scene then suddenly have a street sign or toaster appear (for example) with all their attacks limited to traffic light or kitchen appliance related abilities. Like, how did the alien know that green means go and red means stop? A small issue, to be sure, but it threw me out of the story more than once.

feminist bull

Lots of people get super powers however the first people to die is a man the second one to die is the useless man with power aka the first powered man we meet when the news crew show up it’s the man not the woman told to go home and get to safety also to start the story it talk about how creepy and ugly and mean and stupid men are so I guess that was the first hint after 3 hour I called it quits
