Publisher's Summary
This audio edition read by the author, comedian, writer and actor Liam Williams
Mark is going on the trip of a lifetime: a summer touring Europe in the pay of the travel company he works for.
For his plus one, he turns to his idolised cousin, Paris. Everything Mark's not, Paris is a man of the world with a thirst for adventure - even his name is better than Mark's.
But after a catastrophic argument, Mark finds himself setting off alone on his voyage, instead emailing an unresponsive Paris from the road. A cocktail cruise on the Seine, mindful pastry making in Foix, a graffiti tour in Barcelona: Mark will be forced to engage with life and strangers as he never has before, with poignantly recognisable results.
But questions remain: will he ever be able to have an authentic interaction? Will Paris ever reply to his emails? And crucially, will he manage to write SEO friendly copy for every place he visits?
After all, it's not the destination that counts: it's the homes and experiences you encounter along the way.

The perfect accompaniment to our road trip
I have been a fan of Liam Williams ever since I heard his semi-autobiographical radio series 'Ladhood' on Radio 4. I was blown away with his honesty, self awareness, humour and aphorisms. Since then I have consumed nearly all that he has done since and have raved about nearly all of it too. Nevertheless, I was a little nervous at how it will all work in a novel and this was further exacerbated when it looked like it was going to be in this 'email-chapter' format. Well, I shouldn't have been, the email format really worked and allowed our protagonist to indulge in everything in a presentable way. Following the trials and tribulations of Mark was so relatable as he flipped between facetiousness and openness, from pride and regret, self-consciousness and carefree, spirited and nihilistic. I was doing a road trip with my partner at the time and a lot of these feelings rang true for me as well. It was an easy book to dip in and out of until the end where we were gripped and engorged the final few chapters through the night in the back of a grotesque van in the middle of the Australian outback. Left dumbstruck as we took it all in. Thanks!
