About this listen

Dominic Girard

My final baseball season with the Easton U Pirates feels bittersweet. I'd like to go out on a high note, graduate, and focus on the family business. But a certain pitcher is making senior year a challenge. Not only because Maclain is stubborn as hell, but because he makes me feel things I never have about another guy. With each snarky comment and hard-won grin, he reveals a little more of himself, and before I know it, I'm in over my head.

Mason Maclain

I'll be graduating college this year, which also means the end of baseball, a sport I've played my entire life. It feels like a significant chapter is coming to a close, leaving behind a void I'm unwilling to face. Something else I don't want to face? The impossibly charming Pirates catcher, whose quick wit and killer smirk poke holes in all my defenses. With each lingering look and quiet exchange, I want to push him away and pull him closer at the same time. I've never felt this intense draw before, and there's no way I'll ever admit it.

Contains mature themes.

Tender and moving!

Star pitcher for the Easton U Pirates, Mason Maclain hides his hurt and confusion behind a cocky, aggressive attitude. Catcher Dominic Girard is more thoughtful and caring, patiently trying to coax Mason into opening up. Whereas Bat Boy was light and breezy, Home Plate is deeper and more angsty. This book shouldn’t work. Instead of showing us with action and dialogue, there’s loads of introspective telling and info-dumping which give the two MCs a level of intuition and emotional intelligence that men twice or three times their age never reach - I’m not sure I have! And yet, I was entranced. Christina Lee has again written characters whose battles and tender moments are intense and hard won. I felt deeply for them and their attempts to navigate their nascent feelings for each other. Those readers who get impatient with Mason’s slow progress seem to miss the fact that he lost his mother years ago and is being raised by an unloving, absent stepfather. Audio narrators Iggy Toma (as Mason) and Kale Williams (as Dominic) knock it out of the park!

Great Sports Romance!

Home Plate is book two in the Easton Pirates series. A MM sports romance.

Dominic wants to finish out his senior year of college and enjoy playing the game he loves.
Mason is the surly team pitcher who always have his grouch on.

The sass and snark in this book is brilliant. I really enjoyed their story.

Totally recommend the audiobook Iggy Toma and Kale Williams are a great duo!
