Publisher's Summary

As the third wave of the virus hits, all inhabitants of Melbourne are given until 8pm to get to their homes. Wherever they are when the curfew hits, they must live for four weeks and stay within a 5km radius. When Lou’s son Samuel doesn’t arrive home by nightfall she begins to panic.

He doesn’t answer his phone. He doesn’t message. His social media channels are inactive. Lou is out of her mind with worry, but she can’t go to the police, because she has secrets of her own. Secrets that Samuel just can’t find out about. Lou must find her son herself and bring him home.

A fast-paced psychological thriller for fans of Tell Me Lies and Trapdoor.

Loved the narration

This is brilliant psychological thriller is quite short so you can get through it in one sitting but it still packs a punch. Aimee Horne who did Tell Me Lies by J P Pomare and The Cuckoos Cry by Caroline Overington is fantastic as usual. If anything it could have been a touch longer!

Mind bending!

So many unimaginable twists and turns and shades of ambiguity. The familiar places and setting of the recent past brings it chillingly close to home. Also greatly enjoyed catching up with some old friends seen in a new light. A truly gripping story that made for compulsive listening.

Amazing!

J.P Pomare has become one of my favourite authors and this book is another one of his beautifully written tales with complex characters and an unexpected twist. The narrator is also great, I couldn't stop listening!

Home Before Night

This is a story full of twists and turns and had me engaged to the very last minute. I really liked that it was a modern story set in pandemic times so felt it was very relatable. The great narration added to the depth of the story. Absolutely loved it. Highly recommend it… reminded me of The Dry but set in the city rather than country Australia.

love the suspense!

It started a bit slow but I was hooked by about chapter 3. A good modern storyline that also incorporates some issues of the past 30 years. I thought I had it all figured out, but the plot never ceased to amaze me. would definitely recommend.

SHORT STORY BUT PACKED WITH A PUNCH!

This was a great audio and would have been close to home for a lot of people in COVID times. Great story with a twist I didn't see coming. Well done and thanks for a great listen.

Good read

A bit of a slow burner which perhaps isn’t what you’re after with a novella. Not as thrilling or engaging as Trapdoor, but an enjoyable listen nonetheless.
