About this listen

Hollywood is indelibly printed in our minds as the ‘go-to’ place for entertainment and has been for decades.

When there really did seem to be more stars in Hollywood than in heaven, Hollywood Stage had them performing films as radio plays - on the sponsor's dime, of course.

Classic films now become audiobooks, with many featuring the original stars from way back when. Here's War of the Worlds starring Dana Andrews and Pat Crowley.

Glitchy Audio

Disappointing. The audio periodically, momentarily switches from mono to stereo which makes listening to this classic adaptation something akin to enduring Chinese water torture. The thing that makes this particularly disappointing is the fact that there's a free version floating around somewhere that has pristine audio. Save your money and chase it down via Google.
