About this listen
He wants to marry her off quickly. She says absolutely not.
When the Marquess of Campbell inherits a fiery, red-headed Scottish beauty as his ward, it's his job to marry her off. No problem. She comes with a fortune. Lady Bridget MacDuff will have suitors falling all over themselves to wed her.
Not so fast. Lady Bridget has plans for that fortune, and they involve helping unfortunate women. And she has no intention of helping her devastatingly handsome guardian in his quest to get her off his hands. He doesn't plan to marry, either. Why should she?
Bridget and Cam are now on opposite sides of a war that neither one plans to lose. Even if Cam's rakish presence throws Bridget's heart into turmoil and the marquess can't deny that his ward sets his heart afire. And then Cam makes a bold proposal....
Contains mature themes.

Pot calling the kettle black
As the stoey progressed, i kept wondering whether it would've been more enjoyable had the narrator performed this audiobook instead merely reading this audiobook, particularly as the MFC constantly sounded petulant. It turns out, she is, and her speech towards Cam is predominantly antagonistic. She has grown up plans but acts childishly. She wants to be loved but neither puts in any effort or meets him half way. How on earth this man - whom she constantly bangs on about being arrogant and overbearing (which I don't find him to be at all) - can love her is beyond me. I had enough by Ch19 and pushed forth only to see if she developed any emotional intelligence. She didn't, and for me this story was disappointing.

Good story
Good story but the narrative seems quite strange, it doesn’t flow like natural language. Stilted and slightly robotic.

Lovely
A truly romantic story. Callie Hutton has a brilliant way of writing, continuing the journey, expanding the characters and settings as we go along.I fully recommend this book. I look forward to reading more.

Entertaining
Throughly enjoyed the narrator. Times were extremely frustrating and so unfair for women back in those eras- I would not have survived, we take a lot for granted so enjoyed the humour and wit from this story.

not worth it
I have to admit I am not a fan of the narrator Ruth Urquhart. she puts a twang on characters that make them seem childish, stupid and petulant. the story in this however is ridiculously misogynistic, and does not add up at all. this is the first book I have listened to by this author.. can't say I will be looking at any more from her.
