Publisher's Summary
The gritty prison memoir of Michaella McCollum, one half of the infamous 'Peru Two', imprisoned in a Peruvian jail for attempting to smuggle 11kg of cocaine from Peru to Madrid in August 2013.
She was just a regular girl, spending the summer working at a bar in Ibiza, until she was approached by a man who asked her if she'd like to make some quick, easy money...and it would change her life forever. This is the truth of her time in prison, told through her own diaries and letters to her mother, family and friends, recounting tales of vicious guards, psychotic inmates and horrendous prison conditions.
A brilliantly affecting tale of a naïve young girl who starts out in the Ibiza party scene and comes of age in the dark heart of Peru, before finally emerging into the sun a stronger, more confident, mature young woman.
COMING SOON TO BBC THREE - 'HIGH', A DOCUMENTARY ABOUT MICHEALLA'S ARREST, CONVICTION, AND TIME IN A SOUTH AMERICAN PRISON

Excellent all round!
Michaella’s story is something that happens way too often….she explains life in court and prison as it is in some countries….it must have been a horrific time for her….absolutely horrendous!! She is definitely one strong lass to have even come out of those places sane!! Honestly? I wouldn’t have lasted the first night….not a chance!!

Enjoyed it
For some reason I didn't know anything about the Peru 2, so it was good going into this book with no preconceived opinions. It was a great story.

Great story!
I absolutely love this book. It was such a good, honest, heartbreaking, loving, cleverly written true story about how one mistake can change your life and the ones you love forever. Michealla keep her wits about her to prevent herself from getting caught up in the whole toxic prison web and not to be consumed in the abyss of it all. A Great story of a courageous young woman surviving in such a corrupt system where females sell themselves to keep themselves alive.
Maeve Smith was amazing how she narrated this book, I take my hat off to her in fact I had to double check to see if it wasn’t Michaella McCollum reading the book, as she read it like she had gone through this whole saga herself. I would love to know what other stories she narrates as she was brilliant.

an easy listen
good to listen to while gaming or driving, doesn't require too much focus.
listened to after watching Dopesick, addiction wasn't the main topic, more just about the process of being a young drug mule and her life as an inmate in Peru.
