About this listen
National Best Seller
An up-close portrait of the mind of an addict and a life unraveled by narcotics - a memoir of captivating urgency and surprising humor that puts a human face on the opioid crisis.
“Raw, brutal, and shocking. Move over, Orange Is the New Black.” (Amy Dresner, author of My Fair Junkie)
When word got out that Tiffany Jenkins was withdrawing from opiates on the floor of a jail cell, people in her town were shocked. Not because of the 20 felonies she’d committed, or the nature of her crimes, or even that she’d been captain of the high school cheerleading squad just a few years earlier, but because her boyfriend was a Deputy Sherriff, and his friends - their friends - were the ones who’d arrested her.
A raw and twisty, pause resisting memoir that sounds like fiction, High Achiever spans Tiffany’s life as an active opioid addict, her 120 days in a Florida jail where every officer despised what she’d done to their brother in blue, and her eventual recovery. With heart-racing urgency and unflinching honesty, Jenkins takes you inside the grips of addiction and the desperate decisions it breeds. She is a born storyteller who lived an incredible story, from blackmail by an ex-boyfriend to a soul-shattering deal with a drug dealer, and her telling brims with suspense and unexpected wit. But the true surprise is her path to recovery. Tiffany breaks through the stigma and silence to offer hope and inspiration to anyone battling the disease - whether it’s a loved one or themselves.

“Raw, brutal and shocking. Move over, Orange Is the New Black. There’s a new bitch in town.” (Amy Dresner, author of My Fair Junkie)
“A great read for fans of Orange is the New Black, this national bestseller provides a shocking and propulsive look into the life of an addict.... Jenkins breaks down the stigma around drug addiction and recovery in her first book, giving readers a story that is both joyous and heartbreaking.” (BookBub)

Amazing story
Fantastic story. I listened to it while I spent time driving between clients for work. I didn't even notice the kilometres passing. I laughed and cried along with her as I listened.

Intriguing, personal, but a bit hard to follow
Enjoyed the openness Tiffany has as she shared her story. I did find it a bit hard to follow with the time shifts (from present to past and back again), which might be easier to follow in print.

100% captivating!
I knew about this book because I’ve been following ‘Juggling the Jenkins’ for a few years. Tiffany has a realistic view of life and a killer sense of humour.
I was hesitant to read this book because I was unsure how well the story will be told. However, once I started listening, I couldn’t stop. The story was not only told amazingly well but I had to keep reminding myself that this is a true story - her story. I laughed and cried and felt like I was experiencing everything alongside her the whole way through. 100% recommend!

Review from an ex addict
I was introduced to Tiffany through her hysterical mental health videos whilst on a health retreat and instantly loved her passion, honesty and ability to laugh at the hard s&%t in life.
Since coming home I have found more of her online content and this book; none of it has let me down. She has the ability to genuinely talk about the reality of addiction with sincerity, compassion and a lightness that I think only those with lived experience will fully understand.
I would recommend this to everyone, it’s a good listen even if this isn’t your world.
If you are in active addiction or recovery this is not a graphically detailed book (There’s one vivid description of IV use, the rest is just discussion) but please still take your safety precautions and use your own judgment.
All in all a lighthearted yet honest look at addiction with a positive focus on recovery that doesn’t shove it down your throat.
I’m hoping for a sequel.
Safe and happy listening fellow travellers 😊
