Publisher's Summary
Power is returning to the world after millennia, ancient constructs are stirring back to life, and one man is doing his best to ignore all that noise.
Fischer has everything he needs in life: blossoming friendships, a menagerie of cute animal companions, a waterfront property with easy access to fishing, and enough coffee to take out a small elephant or a really big dog.
Unfortunately, Fischer can’t catch a break. Cosmic forces? Still throwing curveballs. The bigwigs in the capital? Starting to sniff around his business. Cults? Still culting. Plus, awakened beings are washing up on his shores like flotsam after a storm. And worst of all? His coffee guy ghosted him!
It’s a lot for one heretical fisherman to handle. Thankfully, Fischer isn’t alone. Between his trusty guard crab, a mischievous otter who can wreathe herself in lightning, and an adorable bunny eager to solve every problem with a roundhouse kick, he’ll be just fine . . . probably.
The second volume of the laugh-out-loud LitRPG adventure series—a #1 Rising Star on Royal Road with more than three million views—now available on Kindle, Kindle Unlimited, and Audible!
Critic Reviews
“I can’t think of a single story I’d rather get truck-kun’d (truck-kunned?) into than [that of] the vivid, lush world portrayed in Heretical Fishing, especially if I can hang out with Fischer and his gang. . . . The best book I’ve read this year.” —Matt Dinniman, author of Dungeon Crawler Carl

Good fun
Nice, light fun, it avoids the constant stat updates with a nice twist to the system. It's ts not action packed but the pacing keeps you engaged. I'm looking forward to the next book!

An ode to food and fishing
Lol
This was a funny book. Both intentionally and unintentionally, I think.
I did enjoy it but only because I listened to the awesome narration. Reading it was boring and pretty repetitive, with only occasional interesting chapters sprinkled amongst the fishing, cooking and pettings of various animals.
I was in a mood for slice of life with low stakes and minimal conflict so it worked for me - with frequent breaks.
It wasn't as good as the first one, though it was good enough for me to look forward to the next one.
I also appreciated the reference to Asano lemonade - not that anyone really needed the confirmation of the author being a fan of HWFWM. This series is basically a great big homage to it's MC, imo. Which is totally cool with me.

Binge me now!!!!! You will love it
You have to binge listen to this book, as it will just make you smile and laugh. So many times I found myself laughing not only at the Australian humour but just in general that’s how well it’s written. Don’t worry if your not an Aussie the humour is universal just delivered in an Aussie way. The Characters richness continues and Heath kills it via his narration as always bring the characters alive in your minds eye. Honestly a great unique book that just keeps giving as is not all about killing and focusing on levels. It includes aspects but has a focus on connections and bringing characters into the story which in turn brings you in. Only down side is I now have to wait until November for book 3 for Rocky to be launched by Snips but In the words of Fisher! It will be delicious! and worth the wait.

Voice acting is great but story so so
Felt like the story had a lot of filler and really only moved the actual plot forwards right at the end. Enjoyable to listen to but a little bit average on the story side.

Fantasy Dream
I enjoy how Haylock’s storytelling is true to the characters he is developing. The cadence of the narrative ebbs and flows to match each individual. The MC’s story cadence matches his desire to enjoy life and others push the story forward at a greater pace in line with their personalities and agenda.
