About this listen
Oxford, 1583. Giordano Bruno, a radical thinker fleeing the Inquisition, is sent undercover to Oxford to expose a Catholic conspiracy against Queen Elizabeth. But he has his own secret mission at the University, which must remain hidden at all costs.
When a series of hideous murders are committed, Bruno is compelled to investigate. What he finds makes it brutally clear that the Tudor throne itself is at stake....

Enjoyable but stretched belief
For the most part, this was an enjoyable historical thriller. The writing and historical detail was well done, and I am interested enough to continue with the series.
Despite this, I felt that some elements of the plot were a tad contrived and a few characters were not as well-developed as they needed to be for the reader to feel invested in the mystery’s solution. I also didn’t particularly enjoy the narration of the audiobook and switched to the ebook.
Even so, this was a worthwhile read that I would recommend to anyone looking for a good, escapist piece of historical fiction.

Good listening
A storyline that was fast paced, interesting and believable until the end where the rescues were not. But let’s face it, it was just a story.
