Publisher's Summary

Damien’s new streaming career is in tatters.

With his play style now known to all and Aetherius’ older brother, Magnitude, gaining a stranglehold on high-level content, Damien struggles to maintain his relevance in the ever-changing world of Saga Online.

In order to regain his notoriety and fight back against Magnitude’s growing power, Damien must undertake a quest that is far beyond his level. If he succeeds, his occultist character will be changed forever.

Meanwhile Lillian has a mission of her own: to find a legendary sword that has the potential to finally bring Magnitude down.

One thing’s for sure, it’s gonna be hell.

Love the series, hate Lillian

This series has been really enjoyable, I usually don’t enjoy the litrpg style genre but this has been great. I just hate Lillian and her whole character, she was alright in the first book of not a little over bearing. But in this one she’s almost insufferable. Other than that it’s a great series and I recommend everyone get stuck into it and just ignore Lillian

4/5.
without Lillian 10/5

Superb Sequel

Amazing sequel to one of my favourite books ever. Book one of the most satisfying endings to a book ever written. Hellhound further develops the characters I came to love and hate in book 1 but in a direction I did not expect but enjoyed.

Seriously hope this becomes a long term series.

Fantastic Story

Excellent performance, great story and the pop culture and gaming references tie in so nice and subtly (sometimes). Can't wait for the next instalment.

Infighting, weird progression and truly hateful characters.

This was a significant drop in quality from the previous book.

Lillian was utterly insufferable and the author was clearly adding scenarios and shoehorning truly awful teenage drama to ensure she always came out on top instead of being slapped across the face and dropped by everyone which would have been a more realistic outcome.

There's also the near constant infighting between party members.

On the good side Aetherius is less of a two dimensional villain and has a bit more human element... eventually, after a mountain of needless drama.

The class progression is all over the place. One moment it seems to be following well thought out game mechanics and the next it's adding both over powered nonsense for the sole purpose of getting the author out of the hole he dug for himself and weird stuff that only seems to be there for the purpose of adding cringy drama to the occultist class.

Overall this is more of cringe teen drama than a litrpg. The first book was great this one not so much and unfortunately there's not a lot that can be done to course correct with the choices the author has made.
