About this listen
The war has begun. Both sides demand Diem's allegiance—or her death.
After her disastrous coronation, Diem finds herself at the center of the conflict between the Descended and the Guardians. With her newfound friends and the man she's falling for on one side, and the mortals she has vowed to protect on the other, Diem must walk a careful line to save the people she loves…even from each other.
The mystery of her unusual heritage begins to unravel, sending Diem and Luther on an unexpected journey across the realms. The answers may hold the key to winning the war, but finding them will require her to face painful truths about her mother, her bloodline, and her fate.
Meanwhile, the Crowns have set Diem in their sights. Some could be her greatest allies—while others want her dead. To end their oppressive reign, Diem must sort friend from foe and risk it all to build an army of her own.
But a powerful figure in the north has plans that could change everything...
Heat of the Everflame is the third book in The Kindred's Curse Saga, a four-book epic fantasy romance series that follows our feisty, bad*ss heroine Diem Bellator in her fight against injustice, her struggle to survive in a royal palace full of betrayal and intrigue, and her journey of self-discovery and finding true love.
This slow-burn, enemies-to-lovers series is perfect for fans of unique magic systems, dragons and other mythical creatures, angst and romantic tension, and hilarious banter. This series will appeal to fans of plot-heavy, character-driven romantasy such as A Court of Thorns and Roses, Throne of Glass, Blood and Ash, The Plated Prisoner, Grisha, and Crowns of Nyaxia.

Great plot & tension but extremely slow at times
I loved the first two books, unfortunately this one dragged on a bit. The plot is still great but much much slower pace than the first two books. Still worth it.

The action and romance !
What a great book! Full of twists and turns and slow burn romance ! I love the main character, how she is a symbol of strength and the story line is well thought out. What a read! On to the next!

Dragged out in parts that were so unnecessary
Diem is a healer, how did she not see straight away Luther was unwell and pushing her away. This part was so dragged on and literally so many times he tried to tell her and she had to talk her him. Honestly it was so frustrating to get through. It just wasn’t realistic all three of his friends seeing how different he was acting and investigating it, out of their love for him. It just didn’t make sense. Not only that but why not just ask diem to assist him in healing it like she had for Taran. He caused her more stress acting the way he did, then by just telling her straight away and getting help. This whole part felt beyond their bond and relationship. The book is great but this part to me was a wasteful part of the story.

a masterclass
It's been a long time since I've devoured a series this quickly. this instalment is a masterclass in fantasy romance. This story is a slow burn, and Penn Cole ensures all characters and story arcs are seen through. the narrator gives one hell of a performance, keeping you engaged through the slower moments, navigating every twist and turn fantastically! I can't wait for the final book!

Loved it!
Loving this series!
The "my heart broke/shattered/cracked" got a bit tedious. Apart from that, I love the characters and the storyline.
Can't wait for the next one!

Great story.
Dislike male narrator. Voice didn't fit the character. Female narrator is great. Does emotion and range of voices well.

Good plot
Good plot…
But Diem is so annoying. She continuously makes terrible decisions, and puts people at risk.
It’s THE WORST

Amazing!!!!
Amazing storyline and characters! I am loving this series and cannot wait to read book 4 when it is released. A friend of mine recently said she felt that this series was up there with the Throne of Glass series and I agree! If you loved TOG, give this series a go!

Best of the series
This might be better than ACOMAF. The plotting, the sceeming, the slow burn. Luther is not as superior MLC as Rhysand, but the magical world building is next level. Also the political serting are thrilling. The are so many levels and dark themes wrapped in this series, that is unusual for fantacy books. I truly appreciated this reading experience.
