Publisher's Summary
Lana and Xerus return ... and encounter a life-altering threat.
Xerus: loyal, protective, swift, powerful. Named predomis—highest warrior among the vrisha—and guardian to his queen. And Lana's one true mate.
Several years after Lazris, Lana has called the vrisha's world her home. After a long mission kept her and Xerus away, they finally return to Tryth, hoping to settle back into the life they had and spend each moment together.
When the discovery of a galaxy-sized threat presents itself, and they learn of a dangerous empire seeking to hunt humans for its benefit, Lana and Xerus must work together to stop a major catastrophe and possible war before it's too late.
As large of a problem as that seems, Lana finds an even darker, more disturbing complication within her own mate. Something that could sever their relationship completely and shatter the bond they had built since the beginning.
As they strive to save the human race from being hunted and killed, Lana fights to save the one who matters to her the most.

what a book, what a series
I've listened to everything by Olivia, and I have to say, although this is a standalone, I was glad I had heard all the other books as previous characters surfaced. it was exciting to hear how they fared and how they helped in a most exciting story at a wonderful pace. I loved returning to Lana and Xerus and how they had to go through yet another suspenseful, angst filled, emotionally, gut wrenching situation. I felt devastated for both of them, as truths and understanding were unravelled.
The world building and descriptions of the planets written by Olivia were just awesome.
This sci-fi series is unlike any others I have listened to.
Olivia goes about taking a trope that has been done before but has added depth to a plotline and detailed character building (especially book 1.)
the whole book was simply brilliant, and not only was I reminded of past events, I learned of new methods, culture, and characters.
The idea that Olivia puts forward in this novel is a parallel to what is needed in real life today.
I can see the many avenues that open up for more stories, and I hope we get more.
Maxine Mitchell is one of my all-time favourites as a narrator, and she does an awesome job with accents, tone, and inflections. I absolutely loved it.
