Publisher's Summary
Number-One New Release in Romance
The number-one New York Times best-selling author of Verity and It Ends With Us delivers another breathtaking novel with a magnetic suspense that will keep you glued to your device.
"This book deserves a whole galaxy of stars, but alas, five is all I can give." (Shades of Rebecca)
Life and a dismal last name are the only two things Beyah's parents ever gave her. After carving her path all on her own, Beyah is well on her way to bigger and better things, thanks to no one but herself. With only two short months separating her from the future she's built and the past she desperately wants to leave behind, an unexpected death leaves Beyah with no place to go during the interim.
Forced to reach out to her last resort, Beyah has to spend the remainder of her summer on a peninsula in Texas with a father she barely knows. Beyah's plan is to keep her head down and let the summer slip by seamlessly, but her new neighbor Samson throws a wrench in that plan.
Samson and Beyah have nothing in common on the surface.
She comes from a life of poverty and neglect; he comes from a family of wealth and privilege. But one thing they do have in common is that they're both drawn to sad things. Which means they're drawn to each other.
Beyah and Samson agree to stay in the shallow end of a summer fling. What Beyah doesn't realize is that a rip current is coming, and it's about to drag her heart out to sea.

Maybe we did grow heart bones
"Beyah has had a tough life. With the sudden death of her addict mother, she is left with no choice but to stay with her absentee father for the summer just until she leaves for College. Here she meets Samson, an enigmatic and secretive boy who is so similar to her and yet so different. Drawn towards him, her life changes when an unforeseen event leaves Beyah and Samson fighting for their future"
I really loved this, a fast-moving pace, great plot, unique characters, some great twists, and turns. I was hooked and read this so quick.
Each character was well written, I was invested in them all. Beyah and Samson relationship was great.
Umm Pepper Jack Cheese! What a fantastic pet name!
The ending was super sweet and wrapped everything up well.
Definitely an emotional read, and I did have a bit of tear up. Please check the trigger warnings for this one.
"Damaged people recognize other damaged people. It's like a club you don't' want a membership to."

"Love is a lot like water.
It can be calm. Raging. Threatening. Soothing.
Water will be many things, but even in all its forms, it will always be water.
You are my water.
I think I might be yours, too."
