About this listen
A straight guy gives gay hookup tips to a virgin. What could go wrong?
When I first met Whit, I couldn't get away from him fast enough. He's a hockey player, and I hate everything to do with the sport that broke my heart.
But I can't help feeling sorry for the guy. He's newly out and desperate to meet someone, but his eagerness seems to scare potential hook-ups away.
Agreeing to be his wingman should've been simple. Watching him flirt with other guys made things complicated.
Whit challenges me in every aspect of my life, from my hatred of hockey to the new questions I'm asking myself. Like why a straight man suddenly can't stop thinking about kissing another guy.
I think the answer lies somewhere on Whit's lips....
Contains mature themes.

Cute and fluffy
Such a cute story. I loved all the characters and the plot had great flow.
I don't think the narrators did it justice though. I don't think they captured either of the characters very well. They're not bad but I think they should have, at the very least, switched characters.

Fantastic M/M Romance!
Headstrong is a great low angst listen about a current and a former hockey player who meet at Vino And Veritas bar. I am big fan of the grumpy-sunshine trope and loved how saracastic Rainn was and how he slowly warmed up to Whit's sunny personality.
This book was funny, sweet and steamy. Tim Paige was perfect for Whit's bubbly character and Iggy Toma was fantastic as Rainn he did a great job with the sarcasm and had me laughing.

Grumpy/Sunshine fave!
Headstrong is an MM romance with a grumpy/sunshine trope.
Rainn is the grumpy ex hockey player with a chip on his shoulder about everything hockey. He works at Vino & Veritas as a book clerk and a bartender where he becomes Whits wingman.
Whit is the cute but very inexperienced golden retriever energy hockey player.
He recently came out but has never hand a boyfriend or any relationship.
Rainn and Whit have that it’s gonna happen vibe from the beginning. This is cute and fluff which is exactly what I wanted from it.

A good-natured low-angst sports romance!
When hockey player Whit recently came out, he expected to finally hook up but he’s having a hard time sealing the deal, despite his looks - he worries his nervousness and desperation is not helping! Having had his own hockey career tank due to injury, Rainn dislikes hockey players in general and doesn’t warm to Whit when he walks into Vino & Veritas, the inclusive bar and bookshop where Rainn works. Although Rainn is straight, he and Whit get over their differences and develop something more than friendship - it will be a series of firsts for both men. There was a lot to like about this Vino & Veritas standalone. Both guys are decent, likeable and well-drawn characters. There’s no fake drama, just the give and take of two guys learning to understand and value each other. You have to suspend belief about Rainn’s easy adjustment from straight to bi, but it wasn’t a chore. I liked the gentle subplots about each of the guys’ futures and I loved the audio narration by Iggy Toma (as Rainn) and Tim Paige (as Whit). All in all, this was really enjoyable addition to the V&V series!

Love these narrators
A lesson in how only we can pick ourselves up after a life altering disappointment … but it sure doesn’t hurt to have a devoted, funny and wise boyfriend in your corner.

Not for me.
The story was well written for what it was: two normal guys, doing normal things, and having a normal relationship. No angst. No action. No false tension. No drama. Just... normal. While I'm sure there's an audience for stories like this, I found it boring. I spent the entire book waiting for the story to start. Nothing happened. At all. I liked that it didn't try to be anything other than it was, it didn't force tension or create unnecessary drama, but I personally like there to be something in the story that gets me invested. When it's obvious two people are going to get together and there is absolutely no reason why they shouldn't, that's sweet, but not a page-turner.
Still, for a normal story about the normal life of normal guys, it was well written.
