About this listen
Harvest the Dust is a historical fiction novel about an Arkansas farm family during the mid-1930s. A husband and wife struggle to keep their land, to keep their family together, to keep their love and respect for each other, and to overcome their fears.
The novel explores each of their three adult children and their struggle for individual identity and self-worth. This is a time when the Great Depression still held the nation in its grip; when President Roosevelt's "New Deal" struggled to deliver some relief to suffering Americans; and a time when winds of drought blew a quilt of dust to cover the Southern Plains.
There's love and laughter in this story; there is deception, death, trials, failures, and triumphs.
