Publisher's Summary

The Ukrainian Holodomor is a devastating chapter in human history that deserves thorough examination and understanding. The forced famine that took place between 1932 and 1933 resulted in the deaths of millions of Ukrainians and caused immeasurable suffering to countless families. This book is an attempt to explore the history, policies, and personal stories surrounding the Holodomor, in the hope that a greater understanding of this tragedy may prevent such horrors from happening again. In addition, my Mother’s family is from Galicia, Western Ukraine and I wanted to acknowledge the struggles the Ukrainian people have endured which until now have mostly been forgotten. We need to keep the knowledge of this tragic chapter in the Ukrainian story so that we never have to experience such brutality.

I also acknowledge the pain and suffering the Ukrainian people are enduring now, in 2022 and 2023, with another brutal assault by Russia.

My next book will cover continuing Russian aggression in Ukraine… Crimea to the 2022 invasion of Ukraine.
