About this listen

After undergoing gall bladder surgery at age 23, Jennette Fulda decided it was time to lose some weight. Actually, more like half her weight. At the time, Jennette weighed 372 pounds.

Jennette was not born fat. But, by fifth grade, her response to a school questionnaire asking What would you change about your appearance? was "I would be thinner.” Sound familiar?

Half-Assed is the captivating and incredibly honest story of Jennette’s journey to get in shape, lose weight, and change her life. From the beginning - dusting off her never-used treadmill and steering clear of the donut shop - to the end with her goal weight in sight, Jennette wows listeners with her determined persistence to shed pounds and the ability to maintain her ever-present sense of self.

Story fine, narration is AWFUL!

Narration can make or break an audible book. This narrator read like a robot. In all seriousness, do authors listen to the narrator before putting their stories out there?! There were some funny lines in the book but it was read in such an emotionless, robotic voice that it sounded wrong. Sorry to you Teri Clark Linden but I’m not a fan.

A great book about weight loss-that is not a diet book

Jennette is so honest about her weight loss-which is exactly what one needs to hear.

Robotic Narration

Would you be willing to try another one of Teri Clark Linden’s performances?

No, in fact, I will actively avoid books that she has narrated. I found her voice to be frustratingly robotic and devoid of expression. The book is full of jokes that are delivered in a flat monotone. In my opinion, there was a distinct disconnect between Teri Clark Linden and the story she was telling. It felt like listening to Schizoid story time.
