Publisher's Summary

Hacking the Hacker takes you inside the world of cybersecurity to show you what goes on behind the scenes, and introduces you to the men and women on the front lines of this technological arms race. Twenty-six of the world's top white hat hackers, security researchers, writers, and leaders describe what they do and why, with each profile preceded by a no-experience-necessary explanation of the relevant technology.

Cybersecurity is becoming increasingly critical at all levels, from retail businesses all the way up to national security. This book drives to the heart of the field, introducing the people and practices that help keep our world secure.

  • Go deep into the world of white hat hacking to grasp just how critical cybersecurity is
  • Listen to the stories of some of the world's most renowned computer security experts
  • Delve into social engineering, cryptography, penetration testing, network attacks, and more

As a field, cybersecurity is large and multi-faceted - yet not historically diverse. With a massive demand for qualified professional that is only going to grow, opportunities are endless. Hacking the Hacker shows you why you should give the field a closer look.

Doesn’t work well on an audiobook

Too many URLs spelled out loud. Makes it difficult to listen to. I’m sure it’s a great book for the right person in print.

Great overview of cyber, but lose the URLs in the audio!

A great book for getting a broad overview and spread of perspectives across cyber security. Covered some excellent topics and contributors to the field, and I took away some key ideas. Thank you!
However…
I listened to the audio version and for HEAVEN’S SAKE….don’t READ the URLs!!! INFURIATING!
Might be better to either skip them altogether, or better yet, publish a single page with a Table Of Contents and the relevant links for each there - then refer the listener to that page at rhetorical end of each chapter.
Shame, because otherwise, I really enjoyed the book, and it’s a worthwhile listen

Insightful ideas and suggestions how to understand and grow in the Computer Security industry. Written and delivered well.

It would be nice to have an accompanying reference sheet for quick access to additional material and references.

Good content, poor delivery

Which genius thought it was a tippy top idea for the URLs to be read out in full, character by painstaking character? No, just fricken no.
There are a cubic sh!t tonne of URLs throughout the book, and reference pages at the end of some chapters. This type of content is not suitable for an audiobook. Read out a link once to a webpage with all the URLs at the start of the book and be done with it.
It turns an otherwise engaging book into fingernails down a chalkboard.
TL;DR - skip this, get the hard copy
