About this listen
Jameson Bates
I have a secret. We all have secrets. I’m nothing special. It just so happens, however, that my sworn enemy also knows my secret.
He’s the absolute worst person to know this, and there’s nothing I can do about it. What he does with this information is totally out of my hands and completely in his.
This is why I’ve never let anyone in. I don’t trust easily. I keep to myself. I’m closed off, angry—guarded.
Garrison Dixon
I shouldn’t have seen what I did. I shouldn’t know what I do. But how Bates can think I would ever say anything is beyond me.
Everyone thinks I’m just a big, dumb football player with nothing more to him. The truth is I’ll never say a word about what I witnessed. I don’t care about it the way he thinks I do. I wouldn’t hurt him.
And I’d let him know that—all of it—if he wasn’t so damn...guarded.

Story of Garrison and Jameson
This is an enemies to lovers high school romance, featuring Garrison Dixon and Jameson Bates. This is the second book in the Kensley Panthers series.
Garrison and Jameson are team mates on the football team and are entering their senior year of high school. Kensley is a small town and the kids tend to have bonfire parties out on farm land after a game. One night, Garrison stumbled upon Jameson hooking up with Travis, another teammate and Jameson’s best friend. Neither Jameson or Travis are not secretly dating, it was a curiosity thing but the panic it instills in Travis leads to their friendship being strained.
Eventually Garrison convinces Jameson he won’t say anything and Jameson and Travis’s friendship repairs. That part of the book made me so sad as they were each others support in this small town but were too scared to even be seen together.
Garrison has a secret of his own and can’t help but be drawn to Jameson. He antagonises Jameson to no end but it’s his weird way of trying to get close to him. The discussion about the glue stick had me laugh so loud. The attraction between them escalates and they both finally admit to each other they are not straight. This was huge for both of them.
I loved reading their relationship development. They both make each other better. So sweet!!!! Loved how sure they were of each other and put themselves out there to be together. The narration is so good. Love Tim and Liam.
