Darrin Bush was born and raised in Las Vegas. He attended Saint Joseph elementary school, Bishop Gorman
High School and the University of Nevada at Reno. In 1970 he began his working life in the hospitality industry at the
Sahara and Frontier hotels, where he was Room Service Manager, Food and Beverage Manager and Executive Slot
Host.

In 1988, he turned his passion for photography into a career, and became a photographer for the Las Vegas News
Bureau. Darrin spent 26 years behind the lens of his camera capturing headline entertainers, scenic landscapes, world-
class sporting events and the ever-evolving Las Vegas skyline. He completed more than 7,000 photo assignments,
and contributed over 400,000 images to the archives of Las Vegas. The Associated Press, Reuters, Getty Images and
Agence French Press have distributed Darrin’s work worldwide. He has published in the New York Times, USA Today, Los Angeles Times and the Wall Street Journal. His photography has received honors for marketing Las Vegas from the Professional Photographers of America, the MarCom Creative Awards and Galaxy Awards. Darrin also published four books of poetry and two coffee table photo books. He received the Key to The City from Mayor Oscar B. Goodman in 2010, and was featured on the PBS television series “ArtScene” in 2014. Darrin’s photos were presented in the June, 2015 edition of Desert Companion’s on-line magazine, the article entitled “Fire in the sky: images of an ever-changing Strip.” In 2016, Darrin was a participant in the University of Nevada Las Vegas Oral History Department’s project entitled “Building
Las Vegas.” Mr. Bush is considered a Las Vegas historian.
