About this listen
A collection of real-life accounts from nurses in the Australian bush - inspiring, poignant, horrifying and hilarious.
Stories and memories that capture the experience of nursing in the bush, gathered by the inimitable Bill 'Swampy' Marsh, best-selling author of Great Australian Flying Doctor Stories and Great Australian Police Stories.
With hearts as big as the outback, rural and remote nurses are a dedicated and gutsy bunch who work selflessly to care for their communities, often in isolated and inhospitable conditions, with few resources but plenty of experience, courage and care.
This memorable and eye-opening collection of real-life accounts from nurses in the Australian bush is by turns inspiring, poignant, horrifying and hilarious - and Swampy should know. It was while he was researching this book he had a near-fatal fall from a cliff in Kakadu, and experienced first-hand the skill and heroism of these outback nurses in extraordinary situations.

Amazing!
Packed with so much information! Loved the variety of stories and all the different situations that these nurses faced, and also found it very enlightening regarding so much of the aboriginal issues, life-style, health care etc in remote communities, and the sheer tenacity of the medical staff/RFDS in always doing everything they could to help. Was also very impressed with how many of the staff absolutely love working remotely, seems as though it is something very special, and it takes very special people to do these jobs. Thank you for a great Read!

🦋MEDICINE FOR REAL NURSES
Being a current serving general nurse of 40 years, disolusioned by the current nursing climate This was the best medicine ever.. It brought me back to why I wanted to be a real nurse in the first place. to make a difference compassion and respect. deliver a high standard of care.
general trained nurses are rare these days. the stories are wonderfully narrated I couldn't put this book down. It was like talking to mature nurse over a coffee to lighten the spirit.
THANKYOU a nurse is a nurse 24/7 you will always be a nurse.

A book about Heroes
Australia has a core of people who feel called on to help to others in many ways. Whether volunteer SES or "Fieries"... or medical professionals....they are all heroes. Focusing on remote nursing , this is a riveting book of a way of life most folk dont know even exists. I enjoyed the book about outback Police too. Highly recommend this series of books... with thanks to the kind, caring and brave souls in them.
