About this listen

Clodagh was 19 when her parents packed her off to college and a relative’s house in Maida Vale, two years after the death on the pylon. They blamed her for it, everyone did....

It was hardly surprising that she fell into the arms of Silver. In his flat at the top of his parents’ house, he played host to a strange crew of young drop-outs whose pleasure was to range the rooftops. It was a happy, heady time until the moment when, on a trek 50 feet above the street, they looked into a window and saw a scene that was to lead to tragedy.

Fascinating Saga

Long, intricate story, very interesting characters, brilliantly written as only Barbara Vine can. Enjoyable from start to finish.

A long, long tale

The story was long. It tells the story of young people who like to travel on the roofs of London; of a wealthy young man whose many friends share his flat. It isn't terribly exciting, not filled with laughter. A bit boring really for a 12hr book. Beautifully narrated.

BORING

Waiting for this story to develop into something. I'm sorry to say it is just boring.

Pleasant to listen to.

Emily Fox has a very easy voice to listen to. if not for this, I may not have listened til the end.
I'm glad I had the patience to listen to the end, however if you'd have asked me half way through, I could not have told you what the story was about.
A meandering tale of this and that, them and us, here and there. Quite a long, detailed story of nothing, yet in the end.. something.
A feel good, caring tale.

Grasshopper

This novel is a slow, slow burn from Barbara Vine. If thrills and action are what you require this book is not for you. If a clever, well written, well researched unusual story is to your liking Grasshopper fits the bill. The London setting is totally evocative, and the story carefully crafted. Emilia Fox does a great job narrating. Very satisfying if you can take your time
