Publisher's Summary

A swoony, heart-wrenching small-town romance from USA Today and Wall Street Journal best seller Sarina Bowen!

Leila:

What I meant to do: quietly divorce my lout of a husband and then have a child all on my own.

What happens instead: my crush comes back to town when I’m at my most vulnerable. After too many cocktails, I ask him to be my baby’s father.

In my defense, it’s been a rough couple of months. Seeing Matteo Rossi again after 14 years has done a number on my emotions. And my libido.

In the morning, I’m hoping he’s forgotten the whole thing. But no such luck. In fact, Matteo has a few clarifying questions. And a few naughty ideas, too....

Matteo:

What I meant to do: visit Vermont for my brother’s wedding. Make amends to my family, and mourn the loss of a friend.

What happens instead: a hot affair with the one who got away. But it can’t last. My life is 2,000 miles away, and Leila deserves everything. She’s as good as gold.

Love Sarina Bowen

This one didn’t quite hit my normal Sarina Bowen mark as the female narrator’s performance over shadow the experience. Jason Clarke was brilliant as always.

Don’t love female voice

Male voice and store are great, hard to push through otherwise.

The female heroine absolutely did my head in

Well I absolutely had to find out how it finished but the female heroine Leia or however it's spelt did my head. FYI spoilers ahead!!

It's a love story about 2 best friends who find each other after being apart for 20 years or 14 for Matteo.

They have a Summer together making a baby. Just all the things the female lead does like before he leaves he thinks he's infertile and asks if having a baby is still the most important thing. Leia says yes them instantly knows she wants a baby and Matteo but doesn't tell him and he's gutted again and he leaves again. Hes loved her for 20 years but she can't own her feelings and it continues all the way through the book until he sells everything because he wants her. And yes the first to tell her he loves her.

I mean I'm not saying he was perfect either but female lead and ignoring her feelings and such really irked me.

Not sure I can stomach listening to Nash and Livia's story or anything else Sarina Bowen has written.

okay, not as good as earlier ones

I wasn't invested in, nor taken away by this one. felt like it lacked the depth that earlier ones in series reached, characters and storyline more 2 dimensional. Also found key premise stretching plausibility - including for characters themselves. would have been happier spending credits on something else I think.
