Publisher's Summary
One crossed wire, three dead bodies and six bottles of bleach. Seth Beauman can’t sleep. He stays up late, calling strangers from his phonebook, hoping to make a connection, while his wife, Maeve, sleeps upstairs. A crossed wire finds a suicidal Hadley Serf on the phone to Seth, thinking she is talking to The Samaritans. But a seemingly harmless, late-night hobby turns into something more for Seth and for Hadley, and soon their late-night talks are turning into day-time meet-ups. And then this dysfunctional love story turns into something altogether darker, when Seth brings Hadley home… And someone is watching …

Dark and highly entertaining
Dark and gruesome, though thoroughly enjoyable with a few nice twists. Recommended, not for the squeamish though!

Not what I expected but loved it.
Narration by Ciaran Saward was excellent. Will's story telling was fantastic. His life and human observations were so on point. I really, really, really loved his style of writing so much so I have bought the next book in the Dective Sargent Pace series. A big thumbs up from me and highly recommended.

Shockingly brilliant
Okay, when I tell you that the twists in the middle and at the end made my soul leave my body…
This book is so wild and such an original concept it will leave you a shell of your former self.
Each character is so fully realised and intricately described that you feel as though you know and understand each one. The only very minor criticism is that the detective character could have been a larger part of the story and more astute.. he obviously has a back story so I hope to learn more about him in future books.
Overall a must read/listen.

I'm so mad at myself for leaving this dark, twisted addictive book unread for so long in my library.

Seductive crime novel with a twist
I loved this book so much. It was was different to the typical crime genre and had me hooked from the first sentence. A little sexy and naughty but also so intriguing with a few twists to keep you on your toes. Narration was the cherry on top!

Not terrible...
This book it's self wasn't too bad, but I did find myself getting confused as to who was who. The narrator didn't really have the knack to change voices for each character.
Hoping book 2 will be better

Stick with it
Slow to start, took a while to care about these characters and understand their drives, but half way through wow the twists started coming and didn’t stop. Really enjoyed the end and where this story ended up.

A PLEASANT SURPRISE
I had just finished a longish book and decided to read one from my unread collection in my Library. Reviews were not to exciting and I initially began listening thinking I was in for a disappointment. How wrong I was. The Good Samaritans kept me enthralled right from the start. It’s written brilliantly in the First Person of around six characters. I finished it all to soon in just a few days as I had to keep coming back to see what happens next. Possibly the sex narrations might have been overdone, over explicit a little unnecessary but did fit in with the story. Well done Will Carver I was pleasantly surprised very enjoyable.

Yawn
Predictable. Tried to hard to be interesting and different with the first person narrative for every character. Wish the detective had a bigger more intelligent role.

‘Try hard’ book
I can’t believe I stuck with it until the end - considering the end was a predictable and ‘blah’ as I’d suspected it would be. I don’t usually write many reviews, but I have to save somebody else from wasting their time. The sheer number of chapters is infuriating as the narrator has to give each one (when you get to chapter 150, it’s simply unbearable.) Cringe worthy and utterly pointless sex scenes and a very predictable, safe plot.
