About this listen
He knew it was a dumb stunt from the start. A midnight run through a cemetery to impress a couple of girls isn't the stuff of legend, but Alex Carlisle longs to escape the crushing mediocrity of life after high school.
Then, he stumbles upon the ritual, the cultists, and two bound and bloodied women. Alex intervenes, and the ritual blows up in his face, leaving him bound to them both: Rachel and Lorelei, an angel and a succubus. It’s hardly the sort of challenge a guy can face with dignity when he still lives at home with his mom.
Alex never imagined falling for an immortal demon seductress or that he’d spend his nights dodging her co-workers, her old boss, and every other supernatural freak in Seattle. He never thought a woman like Lorelei could have a rival like Rachel, either. But then, nobody ever said adulthood would be easy.
Warning: Good Intentions contains violence, explicit sex, nudity, inappropriate use of church property, portrayals of beings divine and demonic bearing little or no resemblance to established religion or mythology, trespassing, bad language, sacrilege, blasphemy, attempted murder, arguable murder, divinely mandated murder, justifiable murder, filthy murder, sexual promiscuity, kidnapping, attempted rape (which is never comedy), immolation of said attempted rapists, consistent abuse of vampires (which is always comedy), arson, dead animals, desecrated graves, gang activity, theft, assault and battery, panties, misuse of the 911 system, fantasy depictions of sorcery and witchcraft, multiple references to various matters of fandom, questionable interrogation tactics, cell phone abuse, reckless driving, even more explicit sexuality, illegal use of firearms within city limits, polyamory, abuse of authority, hit-and-run driving, destruction of private property, underage drinking, disturbances of the peace, disorderly conduct, internet harassment, bearers of false witness, mayhem, dismemberment, falsification of records, tax evasion, bad study habits, and an uncomfortably sexy mother.

Nothing to get excited about.
Repetition, Wish fulfillment and plot armor.
sure its got a good runtime but I found it impossible to listen to this without speeding it up. (listened on 1.70x)

A guy's wet dream
Very good narration and great range of voices from Tess Irondale. A few talking mannerisms get shared across several characters that would have had better effect if not shared.
We start off with typical goody two shoes Alex inadvertently getting caught up in a supernatural situation that further gets him involved in more supernatural situations. He soon gets a harem of women wanting to get into his pants.
Ironically, this is where the suspension of disbelief falters. The lack of "complications" of him having to be shared between so many women gets too convenient despite explanations on why they are fine with it. The steamy sex were also fine but did get a little too frequent and soppy, I was starting to feel inured to them. Sometimes, I felt a fade to black would have had a better effect.
Anyway, not a bad story especially when you're in the mood for a bit of romantic supernatural adventure. Suffers a bit from the protagonist getting all the lucky breaks though.

Nice guy wankathon
I like the narration but found the story very cringey.
It felt like the fantasy of a geek who considers himself a “nice guy” and then gets rewarded continuously by attractive women throwing themselves at him.
The moral of the story seems to be that nice guys finish first, and that you can have all your women and eat them too.
If you like cheesy pornos, joss Whedon, and twilight then this might be your jam.
I’m all about polyamory, bisexuality, smut, and fantasy but this felt unrealistic. Polycules are complicated, learning about your sexuality can be complicated, then you throw in supernatural themes- more complications. Instead of working with this and making a rich nuanced story, all the problems were resolved quickly and idealistically.
The main character was just too perfect, all the good guys were too perfect, even the succubus became too perfect and heroic.

classy porn?
What would have made Good Intentions better?
Well, to be honest the whole book does nothing much other than - average guy gets the hot girls - style of story. And of course one of them is super rich and provides for him, yada yada yada. You can guess it people. Porn mixed in with a average story the kind you would find on a porn LIT story site.
Any additional comments?
It got pretty steamy quite often

Tess Irondale
I went looking for more of Tess's narrating works and came across this little gem.
love the book and already bought the next one when I was halfway thru this one.
All I can say is you are lucky Tess was the reader for this...she is a knock out talent.
having said that, your book is brilliant, and not just because of the sex scenes......
highly recommended reading fellow book works.👍👍👍👍

Clever, witty, funny and sexy
Where does Good Intentions rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
It's honestly one of the better audiobooks I've read. I really enjoyed the atmosphere and the storyline.
What other book might you compare Good Intentions to, and why?
It has some of the supernatural elements of something you might see in stories like the Dresden Files or Black Magic Outlaw series, as well as the same cheeky attitude. When things get down and dirty it becomes very, Kenyonesque.
What about Tess Irondale’s performance did you like?
She puts in a solid performance across a range of characters. She has a very difficult job to do with the range of attitudes, ideals and accents she has to pull off.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Ummmmmm, parts of me?

Epic fail
The funniest part of this book is the blurb. The rest is simply a weak plot, clearly written by a young bloke. The narrator isn't too bad but there are many characters and there's only so much one can expect from a narrator.
The plot is very weak. Basically, it's about an ordinary, geeky bloke (Alex) who was a virgin until 19 despite having the hots for a few girls/women during school and since. He rescues an angel and a succubus (both women) from certain doom and they are now bound to serve him instead of heaven and hell. The succubus acknowledges her link with the new master first and willingly becomes his sex slave, but urges him to have sex with as many other women as he can find - apparently it helps her to regenerate her powers after the fore-mentioned doom.
The sex scenes are not in the slightest bit steamy and are interrupted by side plots almost line by line. The author's lack of interest in the sex scenes kind of shapes the plot to simply being about a young, geeky bloke who has gone from being solo to being a polygamist with women draping themselves all over him and no repercussions (jealousy or tension) to speak of.

Basically a dude’s sexual fantasies in print
I was hoping this book would evolve from a guy’s fantasy world where he’s irresistible to every woman alive and has a succubus and an angel panting after him. It lost me the moment Alex forbids Lorelai to have sex with other men while she is constantly (and I meant fricken CONSTANTLY) reassuring him to screw everyone because she’s a succubus and gets off on him getting off. Some of the sex scenes were hot but this book was more annoying and boring than I hoped.
