Publisher's Summary
Full of romance, hijinks and longing, Good Girl Complex is Elle Kennedy at her very best....
She does everything right. So what could go wrong?
Mackenzie 'Mac' Cabot is a people pleaser. It's exhausting, really, always following the rules. Mac has dreams of her own, but to please her parents she moves to the beachside town of Avalon Bay to get her college degree.
Twenty-year-old Mac has had plenty of practice suppressing her wilder impulses, but when she meets local bad boy Cooper Hartley, that ability is suddenly tested. Cooper is rough around the edges. Raw. Candid. A threat to her ordered existence. Their friendship soon becomes the realest thing in her life.
Despite his disdain for the trust-fund kids he sees coming and going from his town, Cooper soon realizes Mac isn't just another rich clone and falls for her. Hard. But as Mac finally starts feeling accepted by Cooper and his friends, the secret he's been keeping from her threatens the only place she's ever felt at home.

Hard work
The characters were a drag, the friends were awful, and I think the fact that this is a marketed as a romance meant I just didn’t get what I wanted from it. They were immature and the MMC didn’t really seem like a good partner at all. I don’t expect to feel this frustrated and angry with the characters when I am reading romance but maybe that’s a personal preference. I really wanted to like it, but there was just way too much conflict.

okay, not much joy
found this one a bit too heavy and sad without many or any breaks in between, so bit of a slow, then seemed to have a very abrupt closure and end. would have benefited from some kind of happier epilogue that would also have finished off the story more softly.

Enjoyable predictable romance
Enjoyed turning out to this, wasn’t over the top and had some reality, relatable bits. So good spicey bits too. Only wish the ending was a bit more exciting

Didn't love it
I struggled to finish this one! it's the first Elle Kennedy audio book I've listened to so I'm not sure if that influenced it. The Score and the Deal are my favourite books! I think I just didn't enjoy the main characters. There wasn't anything super likeable about either of them and I just didn't feel for them. I wouldn't say it was any more or less deep than the authors other books but I just didn't get invested. I'm not interested in reading any further about the other characters either. None of them had that Summer charm!

Sadly worth the time!
From start to finish this book reads like a draft that hasn’t been given much of a structural edit. The plot dragged on and the main characters were flimsy at best. I read to the end because I wanted it to get better, but the final chapter was really abrupt and kind of underwhelming. I love Elle Kennedy’s writing but this one fell short for me.
