What do you do when positive thinking stops working? Really, I’m serious. If you have ever tried being really positive while playing golf, you may have experienced some success, but what do you do when you start playing poorly? It is very hard to keep positive when you have no idea where the ball is going. I tried the positive thinking route myself and when things got tough the only explanation for my poor performance was that I was not being positive enough. There had to be more to it than that I thought, so I went about trying to discover the truth about how our mind gets in the way of good performance. What I found, changed the way I played and coached golfers forever.

I am sharing my techniques with you, having practiced them with golfers of all abilities for the last ten years.

The key skill that you will learn to improve is the skill that underpins peak performance in every walk of life: relaxed concentration. Golfers and golf commentators often talk about focusing well and good concentration, but there is little information about how to improve and perfect relaxed concentration, a skill that all agree is a prerequisite for good golf.

This is not popular golf psychology. I will not encourage you to sit in a chair, close your eyes, and imagine yourself playing really well. If you want the positive thinking route then don’t buy this audiobook. I only deal with reality. slightly different take on golf psychology.

I have listened to many golf psychology books. Usually they all have the same narrative. this book takes a slightly different approach which I much enjoyed.

Every golfer can relate to and learn from this and the stories within.

interesting

This is a good listen with some interesting concepts. it will require a secong run through at a later time to really understand the the ideas involved in golf psychology..

So grateful to have found this book

Resuming after a 20 year break from golf, and with an abundance of technical and psychological information about golf available at our fingertips today, in my quest to rediscover some form and enjoyment of the game, I came across Jon’s book. There are some good books out there on the mind game no doubt, but for me this one is by far the best. Simple but at the same time deep, I now understand much more about the mental game and in practice or on the course I am having a lot of fun with the various mental approaches.

It’s very good

I haven’t only audioed this book several time, I’m doing my best to live some of its lessons.
I feel my golf game is getting better. and even if it isn’t, my enjoyment of playing the game has.

Seems more of an advert to his coaching services

Drawn out explanations as filler. Continual references to contact him and get coaching. Nothing new here, for me at least, and not really worth the credit. Have a positive attitude and play one stroke at a time. Rotella and Parent are better recommendations.
