Publisher's Summary
A spate of murders, deranged scientists, and heavily armed mercenaries - little wonder there's a state of panic at Scotland Yard.
Chief Inspector Brian Hooley has a plan, and it won't make him popular. He wants to bring back autistic detective Jonathan Roper. Currently suspended on misconduct charges, his condition, coupled with a relentless work ethic, makes Roper a unique investigator with observational skills that allow him to see what others miss. But he is also a complex man who doesn't get social boundaries, and plenty of his colleagues just don't like him.
Hooley doesn't care about that. He knows Roper is the one to make a difference.
What follows is a roller-coaster ride, with the veteran cop about to find out what it's like to be the subject of Roper's unflinching gaze as his personal habits face intense scrutiny.
This special relationship is warmly observed and provides a comic contrast to a darkly compelling story where the pair is pushed to the limit.

OK Story, Shocking Narrator
This is a good police procedural story. but the narrator is terrible. This story is set in London, and i would bet good money that this guy is not english, his accents are terrible and really draw focus away from moments which should be authentic and gripping.
I would maybe recommend reading the book, but the audiobook is a dud, which is a shame, because there is a whole series here.

Pronunciation
It was a pleasant enough audiobook experience, I listened to the end. it is getting rather grating to constantly hearing people pronouncing Lieutenant as lootenant. In the British military and the proper English language, the rank of Lieutenant is pronounced'LEFTENANT'. Always has been and always will be. Come on guys, this stuff is basics.

Hard to understand
I struggled to understand the story which I think goes down to terrible storyteller. I think the story is not that bad but should be told with more emotion and not so monotonous.

an offensive representation of autism
poor story, a superficial and characteristic portrayal of autism bordering on offensive. narrator not the most listenable, particularly voice used for female characters.
