About this listen
Brought to you by Penguin.
It was truly the most breathless and in a way the most exhilarating time I have ever had in my life.
This edition of Going Solo, part of The Roald Dahl Classic Collection, is perfect for Dahl fans old and new.
So, enter a world where invention and mischief can be found on every page and where magic might be at the very tips of your fingers . . .
The Roald Dahl Classic Collection reinstates the versions of Dahl’s books that were published before the 2022 Puffin editions, aimed at newly independent young readers.

Last days of the British Empire
Fascinating story simply written which makes very easy to listen to. At times quite gripping.

Amazing book
I thought that this book was going to be a flop but when I read it it was amazing in terms of everything especially the story I would definitely recommend to anyone who likes war stories and adventure!

Best and only auto biography I have ever read!
The reader’s voice was so smooth and it felt like it was Roald Dahl reading until I listened to a sample of Roald Dahl reads Charlie and the chocolate factory and 4 more stories. The detail is probably the only reason I believe the auto biography was not fake.

Wonderful
Roald Dahl’s 2nd book about his young adult life during the war. This is a continuation from Boy, which is based upon his childhood. I highly recommend this book for children aged 9 up, to enable them to learn a little about life in the war. Roald had an amazing life!

An astounding early life told simply and earnestly
We’ve listened to both Boy and Going Solo at least twice as a family, maybe three times, a heartwarming autobiography easy to listen to at any age. Important memories of colonial east Africa and the Mediterranean during WW2. He was very brave but took on the challenges of life and wartime with good natured common sense.
