About this listen

Moist von Lipwig was a con artist and a fraud and a man faced with a life choice: be hanged, or put Ankh-Morpork's ailing postal service back on its feet. It was a tough decision. But he's got to see that the mail gets though - come rain, hail, sleet, dogs, the Post Office Workers Friendly and Benevolent Society, the evil chairman of the Grand Trunk Semaphore Company, and a midnight killer. Getting a date with Adora Bell Dearheart would be nice, too.

Maybe it'll take a criminal to succeed where honest men have failed, or maybe it's a death sentence either way. Or perhaps there's a shot at redemption in the mad world of the mail, waiting for a man who's prepared to push the envelope.

Critic Reviews

"British fantasist Pratchett's latest special-delivery delight, set in his wonderfully crazed city of Ankh-Morpork, hilariously reflects the plight of post offices the world over as they struggle to compete in an era when e-mail has stolen much of the glamour from the postal trade." ( Publishers Weekly)
"His world, increasingly subtle and thoughtful, has become as allegorical and satirical as a painting by Bosch....Pratchett's joy in his creations, in jokes, puns, the idea of letters and language itself makes Going Postal one of the best expressions of his unstoppable flow of comic invention." ( The Times)

Pterry lives on - GNU

Entertaining. Pratchett was the master of making us see ourselves through different eyes. The main character is named Moist. Need I say more?

A different perspective on The Discworld.

One of my all time favourite Discworld books. This novel introduces a new main character, watch as Moist's adventures shed new light into the deeper workings on Ankh Morpork. Perhaps one of the coolest aspects of this book is that it shows how Lord Vetinari as Tyrant of the cities of Ankh and Morpork uses disposable people to improve his city so as no one suspects him of working towards improving the cities and the lives of the people within the cities.
